OTIUH release funky tongue-in-cheek single ‘One For Me’

Fresh off a successful 2019, hip hop duo Otiuh (pronounced Oh-tee-yah) are back to bring the heat with the release of their new single and video, 'One For Me' - a middle finger to Tinder and dating apps.  Born from a mumbled iphone recording when drifting to sleep the track is the first taste of their forthcoming second EP La Festa that will drop later this year.  A pivot from their usual high octane rap ferocity, the track is a fusion of smooth vocals, soft acoustic guitars and psychedelic synths, creating a mellow, soft-groove track. 'One For Me' is a playful, tongue-in-cheek love song about dating in today's digital age. "One For Me is a light-hearted love song about getting off of Tinder. The idea came to me when I went home alone to my bed after a night out and I felt absolutely no need to check my messages. I realised my life did not involve checking dating biographies, selfies or back-and-forth messages with upwards of 10 people at a time looking for a prospective lover. I mumbled the chorus idea into voice recorder on my phone before I fell asleep", says Cesare. Deviating from their usual music process, this is the first Otiuh track that features Cesare Papa singing while still incorporating tight rap lyricism from emcee Jahmeil Baker.  Shot digitally and co-directed by local Perth Videographer Dylan Guy,  the clip has been edited to look as if it were shot on Super 8 film to give an old 'hi-fi' home movie aesthetic. The video clip flicks through shots of the pair performing in various areas of Cesare's family home. Cesare goes on to explain: "The lemons, the olive oil, the wine – it’s all a little peek into how we would spend our day at home musing over a love interest. We wanted to show sensuality and masculinity in our own way, always with a twist of humour. Blondie, the chicken was a little bit of a diva and would not sit still for the couple of minutes required to shoot."  'One For Me' arrives off the back of a year of achievements for the pair, including reviews and airplay on triple j (Home & Hosed, Drive) for singles RÜFÜS DU SOL - New Sky (The Otiuh get down edit)' and Daytona Rolling and a premiere on triple j unearthed TOPS for their single 'Pink Gelato'.  The duo were also shown love on Apple Music’s 'The New Australia' playlist and graced TV screens across Rage and MTV. The two aren't slowing down anytime soon, with a second release due next month, followed by the release of their EP La Festa in May. For the meantime, swipe right to Otiuh and stream 'One For Me' across all platforms.
“Crisp as a freshly starched shirt, and I’m popping the collar on it too.”
