by the partae

What is your name and role within the band?

I am Zach Said, I play guitar and sing.

How did you start?

I started writing music when i was about 16/17 when I got my first guitar. I started writing about teenage worries and girls I liked.

Where are you based?

In between my home town Shrewsbury and London at the moment.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

It differs depending on if I’m writing by myself or with other people. But mostly it starts with some chords and melodies then I hone in on a topic depending on which girl has broken my heart this time round.

What are you working on right now?

Right now I’m in the studio with different writers and producers working on my EP. Some exciting stuff to release shortly.

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

I like to spend quality time with my friends and family when I’m not in the studio.

How would you describe your music genre?

R&B souly funky poppy stuff. Its hard to put my music into one genre as I listen and am inspired by many different styles of music.

Do you know any music theory?

I know basic music theory but when trying to describe what I want from a beat or groove its mostly me making random noises and moving my hands round until someone understands.

What are your plans for the future?

At the minute the aim is to release an EP with an album to come shortly after. And to try and stay alive.

How did you get into music?

I think it was a typical story are young kid being inspired by their favourite artists and hoping one day I could be as dope as that.

What are you listening to at the moment?

Eric Lau, Isaiah Rashad, Anderson .Paak, Bryson Tiller and D’angelo.

Who are your top 5 influences and icons?

D’angelo, that guy is a don. Anderson .Paak, Usher, John Mayer, Justin Timberlake, what a man.

When are you playing next?

I’m always playing, but if you head over to my website www.zachsaidmusic.com you’ll see regular links and updates.
