YIBBY UNVEILS THE STRIPPED BACK SOPHOMORE SINGLE ‘TALK FEAT. PRICE J’

by the partae
After his breakout debut late last year, Yibby is back smooth talking his way into 2019 with his dynamic follow up ‘Talk feat. Price J’. Yibby’s fast-paced, punchy flow takes centre stage sitting atop laid-back, jazzy production of whirling guitars and synths from regular collaborators Clockwork Odyssey. A throwback to 90’s RNB (combining elements of 90s and the present), the ambient, neo-soul infusion culminates in Price J’s soulful delivery, adding an extra layer to the track. ‘Talk’ tackles issues of Yibby’s own self-reflection, diving deeper behind the track commenting, “The hook while it comes across as confronting someone else on what they're saying, it’s really me checking myself as to how authentic I’m being.” Yibby’s debut release ‘Woah’ cemented his arrival in the Australian rap scene. FBi Radio added the song immediately and named him Independent Artist of the Week, whilst tastemakers Off The Clef had ‘Woah’ coming in at #73 on their Top 100 Songs of 2018. After the passing of his parents, Yibby was adopted at the age of two with his sister from his home in Ethiopia and brought to Australia. Growing up as an African in Australia, Yibby often comments on the black experience and the world around him. Delve into conversation with Yibby, listen to ‘Talk’ – out now.
