Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there?

Currently based in Sydney and being surrounded by the music here in Australia is great. It’s super easy to catch-up with anyone anytime of the week because most people in the industry live in Syd.

Please tell us about your new EP Isic Tutor, where and when did you record?

I recorded it in my home studio 2 years ago. But I’ve had some of the songs lying around for 6 years. ‘Warming’ is the oldest song on the EP.

What influenced the sound of this EP?

Between the OP-1 by Teenage Engineering (a synth and 4-track tape emulator), the Gaia Synth by Roland, and my acoustic guitar, all these songs came about. Using these as my instruments for the sounds of the songs, I started creating the production around them.

Did you collaborate with anybody on this EP?

This EP is written and produced by me. It’s my selfish indulgent side. I love writing and producing with other people, but this EP was nice because I had the chance to work by myself.

Please tell us how you go about producing your music during your live show:

I use Ableton to work my live set in shows. With a mixture of guitar, drums and keys. Swapping about the looping instruments. I get sweaty and it’s great.

How did you first start singing and playing musical instruments?

My Mum and Dad introduced me to music at a young age and I haven’t stopped. Dad taught me piano and Mum the double bass, and from there I branched out to other instruments that fell into my lap.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Olafur Arnalds at the moment, I love his sound. Super chill and super-duper all round cosiness.

Who is your favourite artist of all time?

Ohhh gotta be Bon Iver.

Who has been your favourite artist to collaborate with and why?

It’s been so much fun in collaboration with Jack River. We have been working together for 5 years now and I can’t wait to do more with her!

What do you have planned for the remainder of 2018, live shows, more music, tours?

I have so many collaborations I’m working on, so I think just them! You’ll hear about them soon.

How would you describe your genre?

Hmmmmm, chill bangers.

You have over 20 million Spotify streams under your belt, what do you attribute to your hugely growing popularity?

I guess flipping hectic vulgar rap tunes into sweet white mayonnaise.

Favourite food and place to hang out?

My Dungeon with smavo on toast. With feta.
