What is your name and role within Van Holzen?
My Name is Flo Kiesling and I play the guitar and sing in Van Holzen.

How did you start?

I started playing the drums when I was 5 years old. Later, I started playing the guitar and stuck to it! I was 9 years old when we started playing music with our Band. Later, in 2015 we formed the Band Van Holzen.

Where are you based?

We are from Ulm, Germany.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

Usually we get to our practice room whit an idea in our heads. From there we move on and try to build a song. There´s no concrete recipe for writing a good song. I believe you have to be in a flow and keep your head free from any expectations while you writing a new song.

What are you working on right now?

Currently we are playing a lot of festivals in Germany. And in the end of 2017 we try to write our second Record.

What is your gear setup?

I play with a pretty straight forward setup. A Fender Telecaster, a Vox AC30 and as a second amp an old VHT. No distortion Pedals, just loud amps 😉

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

Outside our music there is not much time left to do other things, but of course, we like to hang out whit our friends and families and try to calm down between our Gigs.

How would you describe your music genre?

I´d like to call our genre Rock. That´s it.

Do you know any music theory?

Not at all, haha! I failed in music class!

What are your plans for the future?

Playing Gigs, travel a lot, write Songs, being a band.

How did you get into music?

My father got into music when he was young, so I think he just passed that passion over to myself.

What are you listening to at the moment?

At the moment I listen to a lot of Queens Of The Stone Age!

Who are your top 5 influences and icons?

Top 5 Influences are: Queens Of The Stone Age, Royal Blood, Biffy Clyro, Thrice, Arctic Monkeys.

When are you playing next?
