What is your name and role within the band?
Hi my name is Helmer and I’m one of the guitarists and also do the backing vocals.
How did you start?
We started way back in 1992 as a couple of school friends who bought their first instruments.
Where are you based?
We used to live in the same area in the south of Holland but now we all live in different cities across the country.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
We used to just start with a riff idea and then finished it all together and sometimes there where almost full song ideas which just needed to be fine tuned in the rehearsal room. Every now and then we rented an abandoned place for a week or so and started working out ideas.
What are you working on right now?
Since we are doing a reunion tour after the original line up split up in 2005 we are just doing reunion shows and have no intentions to write a new album.
What is your gear setup?
Premier drums, Ampeg bass head and speaker cabinet, Mesa Boogie, Marshall and Koch amps, Mesa Boogie, Koch and Peavy speaker cabinets, Fender basses, Fender and Gibson guitars and some nice pedal boards.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
Most of us like to work on other music too or do other creative stuff and have families.
We all have jobs, teacher, designer, construction and wood work, internet, cook…
It affects our music probably… sometimes it’s hard to find some time since we are bussy working and taking care of our families haha.
But it’s most likely also an inspiration in some way.
How would you describe your music genre?
90’s melodic skate punk rock.
Do you know any music theory?
Not really, we just started and listened really good and then started playing
Some of us, including me did study on Audio and Music schools where we learned a little bit
My son is playing drums so I learn some music theory from him 🙂
What are your plans for the future?
When this reunion tour is finished in September 2017 we’ll fully get back into our new bands and work.
I just released and e.p. last year with my new band Camp High Gain where UA’s drummer Jorg is part of too and I’m working on some acoustic tunes and with a designer friend of mine we are working on a new brand which goes by the name AntiShit. Guitarists Erik and Dennis will start something new too, Erik also has bands called Switch Bones and Station Nevada, Bass player Skanne is playing in Station Nevada / Casper and Vocalist Jasper has a band called Joysticker who will al start to or released music already.
How did you get into music?
Just by listening a lot to music since childhood and then started going to concerts
Exchanging mix tapes with friends and then discover great music
When we first heared the Bad Religion and Nofx albums back in ’92 we where blown away and started our own punk rock band.
What are you listening to at the moment?
All different kinds of music to try to get familiar with a lot of new bands and see what’s going on nowadays
Mostly guitar bassed music like rock, punk, acoustic.
Who are your top 5 influences and icons?
Bad Religion, Nofx, Foo Fighters, Propagandhi and Iron Maiden.
