SPRING U.S. TOUR DATES WITH LORDE ANNOUNCED NEW ALBUM TO SEE 2018 RELEASE

(New York, NY – January 9, 2018) After rounding out a landmark year boasting a string of hit singles, Swedish recording artist Tove Styrke kicks off 2018 with the release of a strikingly dark, neon-lit video for her recent cover of Lorde’s “Liability,” a track from her new 2017 albumMelodrama. The release is a precursor to new original music coming soon from the artist whose new album is slated for a 2018 release from Sony Music Sweden/RCA Records.

The Lorde cover, which has seen praise from the likes of i-D, V Magazine, andIdolator, comes perfectly timed as a preview for Styrke’s spring 2018 U.S. tour with Lorde slated to kick off March 1. Of the track, Styrke describes, “It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Lorde and everything she creates. And the fact that I’ll get to tour with her next year still blows my freaking mind everytime I think about it. I got this idea to make a little something while preparing for the tour and being in the studio finishing my upcoming singles and album. Yay for multitasking! So I made this cover of one of my favorite songs, ‘Liability.'”

On the video, Styrke adds, “I wanted to make a mini video for my cover of Lorde’s ‘Liability.’ It wasn’t intended to be a ‘one take’ when we shot it but there was some kind of magic to this particular take and I just didn’t wanna cut it up.”

Last fall, Styrke released new single “Mistakes,” which was co-written and produced by fellow Swede Elof Loelv (Rihanna, Zara Larsson, Icona Pop). The track has seen widespread acclaim sparking Idolator to call it, “minimal electro-pop with maximum impact,” and TIME to remark that Styrke is, “carving out her own sweet spot in contemporary pop.” About the track, which hit #1 on Hype Machine, Entertainment Weekly further proclaimed, “Styrke is making some of the most interesting and daring pop songs of 2017,” and NYLON asserted, “This is your new anthem for getting lil’ naughty.” The track has quickly received nearly 9 million Spotify streams and was released alongside a stunning video that followed Styrke through a runaway bride episode with a twist. Styrke explained to The FADER, “The song is about embracing your wrongs, letting go of yourself and not be perfect. The bride to me is a nice image of ‘perfection’ and it was fun to put a twist on that…it’s more like she’s running back to herself rather than running away.” Shawn Mendes is also “obsessed” with “Mistakes” naming it one of his favorite tracks of 2017 in an interview with NME.

Released April 2017, previous single “Say My Name” saw critical praise sparking Rolling Stoneto grant it the #11 spot on their ‘Top Songs of 2017’ list as well as nods from the likes of Sam Smith and Lena Dunham. The track currently has over 13 million Spotify streamsand was Tove’s first single since her 2015 U.S. debut Kiddo. “Say My Name” has garnered significant buzz, reaching #11 on Spotify’s US Viral 50 chart and #12 on the Global Viral 50 chart. Additionally, the track is Lorde-approved, as the singer included the track on her “Homemade Dynamite” Spotify playlist. The song was also #1 on Hype Machine and has received stellar press coverage, with outlets such as Pigeons and Planes coining it “a summer hit” and Noisey calling it “the best song ever made by a person.”

A platinum selling and Grammy nominated artist in her native Sweden, Tove Styrke has been on a fast rise since the release of Kiddo, bolstered by striking lead single, “Borderline,” as well as strong follow-ups, “Ego” and “Number One.” The album paved the way for a full North American headline tour, SXSW appearances, a performance on Late Night with Seth Meyers and widespread critical acclaim.
