THOMAS WYNN & THE BELIEVERS

by the partae

What is your name and role within the band?

Olivia Wynn, I sing and do some purcussion.

How did you start?

I started singing in church at a young age. It wasn’t till I was 16 that I joined the band with both my brothers. I joined the band playing acoustic guitar. I guess I kind of phased that out and just focused on singing at some point.

Where are you based?

We live in Sanford, Fl. A little town about 30 miles north or downtown Orlando.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

My writing process is a bit scattered. I’m sure Thomas’ way is a little more together in his thoughts. Most the time I sing melodies until words come along.

What are you working on right now?

Right now I’ve been messin around with some ukulele. It’s easy to travel with and a fun little instrument. I have been dabbling with the idea of starting an a cappella project.

 What is your gear setup?

Simple. I have a microphone! I do have a reverb pedal but that stays off stage most nights.

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

I like to find vintage goods. Going the the springs, bike rides through woodsy trails. Ya know, Florida stuff. Well, I think everything we decide to put time and thought into affects how we think and what we do. Hopefully, it’s positive and productive on all accounts.

How would you describe your music genre?

I like that it’s hard to describe our genre. I feel like we cover a lot of bases. Our music is like us, as people. We have ups and downs with many interests.

Do you know any music theory?

I used to know a good bit. I learned a lot through vocal lessons. I really should brush up. The boys know a good bit.

What are your plans for the future?

Hopefully, playing music. Being a good wife, sister, daughter, friend. That’s about all I have planned at this time.

How did you get into music?

Well, I’m the youngest of my siblings. I’d fall into whatever they were doing. What they were doing was music.  My dad is also a drummer and he writes some pretty interesting music these days. Very cool stuff. I guess I was just born into the right family for my talents. Thankfully, they nurtured and encouraged.

What are you listening to at the moment?

I’m always listening to Paul Simon but as far as new stuff I’m digging St. Vincent and Lera Lynn. I was jamming out to The Mars Volta the other day. I’m all over the place.

Who are your top 5 influences and icons?

That’s ever changing.

When are you playing next?

Playing a local show in Sanford on Saturday night for the Hurricane Party before we leave for another tour.

Please feel free to include any extra info.

Most of all, I want to be open and honest and uplifting. We all need encouragement and understanding sometimes. I hope that comes through in our music.
