What is your name and role within the band?

Ryan Granger- Guitar, vocals, songwriter.

How did you start?

I started writing songs in my basement in Seattle back in 2011, and put out an add on Craigslist to see if I can get anyone to join forces with. I picked up my original drummer, initially, as a second guitar player. We couldn’t find anyone else to play with so she moved to drums. We had built up some songs and I had a friend phone me asking if we could fill in for a band that dropped off a show. We had good reviews on the show so we got asked to play more shows. We ended up dropping off some demos CDs and cupcakes to the radio station KEXP. They started playing us, and away we went.

Where are you based?

50/50 Seattle/Brooklyn.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

Usually I sit down with my guitar, have a smoke and a drink and play until something catches my attention. Then I start building on top of the riff and try to see where the notes want to go. My mood and environment definitely impacts where the notes want to go in my head, which also impacts the lyrics and ultimately the story the song is telling.

What are you working on right now?

Just got done with the next album. Working on finalizing some tour dates in Europe and the States. Be ready for release this fall.

I also love to travel. I don’t know if it effects my music, but it’s a perk of being in a traveling band.

How would you describe your music genre?

Rock and Roll.

Do you know any music theory?

Some, but not as much as I would like. Good thing they are just theories. There are no rules in music.

What are your plans for the future?

With the new album coming out this fall, we want to see how many countries we can hit in the next year.
