Tas Wilson, director for music videos by Ruby Fields, Maddy Jane, and Adam Newling, shares of their collaboration, “The boys basically wanted to make a skate part for the new music video. It made the production pretty straightforward. It meant just going to the skatey, getting clips and hanging, which we were all psyched on. Fender sent some gats for the purpose of demoing too, which was mental. We shot it on a VX1000 with a death lens fisheye and a Hi8 with a fisheye. Unfortunately, the dinosaur VX made it a battle to get the media off and we weren’t able to capture it before the deadline. So we were forced to only use the Hi8 footage, which still came up well in then end. Who knows maybe there’ll be an A-Side release down the track. All in all, it was an epic day making the video with the lads.”
The latest track from The Terrys’ debut to receive the music video treatment is indicative of the fun, free-spirited and creatively ambitious nature of True Colour. Known for their easy-going, take-it-as-it-comes approach to life, throughout the album the band lift notes from The Vaccines, Wavves and The Wombats’ festival-ready hooks and bright, fast-charged guitar lines. Praised across NME Magazine, Tone Deaf, The Illawarra Mercury, Happy Magazine, RAGE, MTV and more, True Colour’s release saw The Terrys deliver a triple j Like A Version that caught the approval from its original songwriter Ben Lee; land in the triple j Hottest 200 at #122 for ‘Waiting For You’, #132 for their ‘Catch My Disease (Like A Version)’, and #180 for ‘Situation 99’; take the band to sell out regional shows across the country and more.
Recently the group announced a series of $5 shows in support of their bid to land an #1 ARIA Charting album with the physical release of True Colour on February 24 – available now for pre-order as limited edition vinyl, CD, cassette and skateboard. “Cya Harry Styles, catchya Tay Tay, chow for now Olivia Rodrigo – The Tezzas are taking pol” they share.
