Rising Sydney-based rapper Tasman Keith shares his latest single ‘Nightmares On 9th.’ out today through his own label Mission Famous Music. Listen HERE.

Nightmares On 9th.’ is a testament to Tasman Keith’s expansive artistic flexibility. Blending skittering trap percussion, syrupy, twisted 90s West Coast synths and a pervasive nocturnal atmosphere, Keith’s malleable flow constantly morphes between a menacing drowsiness and his signature, energetic delivery. More than anything, it speaks to Tasman’s refusal to be pinned down and a willingness to define his career with a continuously fearless approach, rather than constricting himself to any one sound or style.

Of the track, Tasman says: “Nightmares On 9th. represents the 9th hour that you wake and realise that everything that seems to be a bad dream is real. I wanted it to be like a classic horror film, a concept that relies heavily on things that do really happen. Things that I’ve personally experienced, and things I know the listeners can relate to. The hypnotic feel/sound is something me and my producers wanted to explore, we intended for it to be an ear candy piece but also something that works really well live. It took some back and forth but in the end we found the perfect balance.

Nightmares On 9th.’ follows his previous single, ‘BILLY BAD AGAIN,’ which saw full rotation across triple j and UnearthedFBi Radio and SYN. Casually dropped at the tail-end of last year, the success of ‘BILLY BAD AGAIN’ capped a prosperous 2019 for Keith in which he also dropped his acclaimed collaborative EP with Stevie Jean, Evenings. Along the way, Tasman graced larger and larger stages nationally, including Laneway FestivalGroovin’ the MooBIGSOUND and more, following the release of his Mission Famous Documentary. Nominated for Next Big Thing at the 2019 FBi SMAC Awards and named “One To Watch in 2020” by triple j Unearthed, ‘Nightmares On 9th.’ looks to carry Tasman Keith’s dominance through to this new year, proving that his propulsive artistic streak is not slowing down anytime soon.
