I am currently based in Melbourne, Victoria where I was born and raised!
I first began my journey in music during primary school, when one of my teachers told my mum that enrolling me in music lessons would be really beneficial as she thought I had a natural talent for singing at that age. From there I started singing and piano lessons simultaneously and thus began the long musical journey that led me to where I am today. I studied many theoretical exams, performed in many competitions and shows all across Victoria, and even performed in a number of Theatre shows growing up. Music is now a part of my everyday life and I am very grateful to be able to have it as such a large part of my career. Not a day goes by when I am not rehearsing, performing, or just singing around my house!
I have had quite a busy start to 2023, I’ve been regularly gigging at many venues across Melbourne and Victoria across the last few months, spending a bunch of time in the studio working on new music, rehearsing, rehearsing, and more rehearsing, and honestly planning and getting things set up for the rest of the year.
Please tell us about your experience with Australian Idol:
My time on Australian Idol was absolutely incredible! It was such a blessing to have been a part of the show and to have been able to meet and connect with so many talented artists across the country. Performing for the Superstar judges was a crazy experience in itself! Walking into a room with Meghan Trainor, Amy Shark, Harry Connick Jnr, and Kyle Sandilands is not something you get to do every day, however, I was so lucky to have my beautiful family along for the experience which made it even more special to me. Top 50 week was a crazy week that just flew by, but my most memorable moment was the group challenge where my group Trak’n performed Justin Timberlake’s ‘Can’t Stop the feeling’, we all bonded so quickly and closely and we were so proud of our performance, especially since we all progressed to the next round! What have you learned through being on Australian Idol?
Through my idol journey, I have learned how important it is to be able to control or work through your nerves. Due to the high-pressure nature and the huge stakes of the competition, you have to treat every performance as if it is going to be your last. Controlling my nerves was crucial for me as it helped me to feel calm and collected and ensure I was able to enjoy the process and have fun through all of my performances, giving them my all every time. How would you describe your sound and music?
If Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, and Tori Kelly had a baby, that would be the most accurate representation of my sound. Drawing inspiration from different aspects of these artists has definitely made its way into the curation of my sound and lyrics. A reinventive mix of Pop and RnB describes the 90s-influenced sound all my music has.
Who or what influences your sound and songwriting?
My songwriting is fuelled by life experiences and focused on growth, self-love, and relationships combined together with a healthy flair for the dramatic. My aim is to unite audiences through my songwriting with universal storytelling by empowering listeners to live their lives proudly, unabashedly and to the fullest.
Please tell us about any upcoming singles/albums:
I have been in and out of the studio for the last few months working hard on a bunch of new tracks, and I am most excited about what will be my first single for 2023 titled Options. The track is a sleek ode to noughties RnB set for release in April 2023 and I cannot wait for you to hear it!
Who are you listening to at the moment?
At the moment I cannot get enough of Sza’s new album SOS! I have had it on repeat in the car for weeks on end now and it still sounds as amazing as it did the first time I heard it. Old School Beyonce has come back into my listening rotation and I am absolutely blasting her earlier albums which are nothing but iconic!
What do you like doing away from music?
I am quite a family-orientated person, so aside from music, I spend a lot of time with my family and my grandparents. I am pretty strong on tradition so I love spending as much time with them as possible to learn their recipes, language, and stories to ensure I can carry out their traditions to future generations. I am very big on creating memories, so a lot of my time is spent with my close friends, spending quality time together, and exploring the beautiful city we live in.
What’s planned for 2023?
2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year! I am working on lots of new music and projects behind the scenes. There will be a few new releases this year so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that, and potentially even my first collab?? Who knows!! But you can bet there will be a new show this year to celebrate this new music! Stay tuned and up to date on my socials!
Favourite food and place to hang out?
Picking just one favourite food is the toughest question to be asked!! I absolutely love a classic bolognese pasta (a very Italian answer I know) and at the moment I’m obsessed with Acai bowls! I have a huge sweet tooth so I also love anything with chocolate in it too. My favourite place to hang out would be the beach! When summertime hits I can’t enough and wish I could be down at the beach every single time the sun comes out!
