VANCE JOY RELEASES ALBUM TRACK ‘LIKE GOLD’ + ALBUM NAME REVEALED: NATION OF TWO (OUT FEB 2018)

by the partae November 7, 2017
written by the partae

“I wrote ‘Like Gold’ after coming off the road at the start of 2016. It started with a simple melody I was humming and the idea of looking back at a relationship.” – Vance Joy

Liberation Records are proud to present the charming, hook-filled ‘Like Gold’ – another preview of Vance Joy’s eagerly awaited new album. This morning, the name and month of release of the forthcoming album was revealed via the artist’s Facebook page.  Nation Of Two, due for release in February 2018, will be the Melbourne musician’s second album release, his first being the #1, Platinum-accredited and much-loved Dream Your Life Away.

“Nation Of Two describes a perfectly self-contained couple; their world beginning and ending at the bed they share, the car they ride in, or any other place where they’re together…The idea that their love for each other gives them their bearings; a point of reference that makes sense of life,” Vance Joy says of the album.

In addition to ‘Like Gold’, Nation Of Two will also include first official single, ‘Lay It On Me’, which recently clicked over Platinum sales in Australia. It’s only the fourth single released by an Australian artist this year to receive Platinum certification and joins ‘Riptide’ (8x Platinum), ‘Fire and the Flood’ (3x Platinum), ‘Georgia’ (2x Platinum) and ‘Mess Is Mine’(2x Platinum) from Vance Joy’s repertoire as a Platinum seller. The song was also recognised earlier this week at the 2017 ARIA Award nominations, receiving a nod for Best Independent Release and Vance Joy for Best Male Artist.

Following extensive touring of the US, Canada and UK over the last few months, Vance Joy will return to Australian shores in two weeks – for sold-out shows in his home town of Melbourne, Sydney and Spilt Milk Festival in Canberra.

Dream Your Life Away has now sold over 1.7 million copies worldwide including over a million in the US and over 120,000 in Australia. The album recently re-entered the Top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart (at #8), three years on from its original release, while ‘Riptide’ has now appeared in the Top 100 of the ARIA Singles Chart for a phenomenal 124 weeks.

Vance Joy | ‘Lay It On Me’ Certified Platinum + Releases Acoustic Version

by the partae October 13, 2017
written by the partae

Performs On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ + New Music Coming Soon

Vance Joy today adds another platinum accolade to his extensive collection, with his latest single ‘Lay It On Me’ now certified in excess of 70,000 sales by ARIA.

‘Lay It On Me’ is only the fourth single released by an Australian artist this year to receive platinum certification.  It joins ‘Riptide’ (8x platinum), ‘Fire and the Flood’ (3x platinum), ‘Georgia’ (2x platinum) and ‘Mess Is Mine’ (2x platinum) from Vance Joy’s repertoire as a platinum seller. The song was also recognised earlier this week at the 2017 ARIA Award nominations, receiving a nod for Best Independent Release and Vance Joy for Best Male Artist.

The news follows the recent release of an acoustic version of ‘Lay It On Me’, which Vance Joy recorded whilst on tour last month in the US.

In America, the ‘Lay It On Me’ story continues to grow. It recently topped Billboard’s Adult Alternative Songs Chart for three consecutive weeks, ahead of the likes of U2, The Killers and Beck, and has reached a peak of #5 on the Alternative Songs Chart so far.  This week also saw Vance Joy take to the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live! performing a beautiful rendition of the track with full band, along with fan favourite ‘Georgia’.

Ahead of Vance Joy’s return to Australian shores next month – for sold-out shows in his home town of Melbourne, Sydney and Spilt Milk Festival in Canberra – the world-renowned singer-songwriter will continue his globetrotting ways. October will see him performing sold-out concerts throughout the US, Canada and the UK.

This month also sees the launch of YGAP’s annual Polished Man campaign, for which Vance Joy is an ambassador. The Polished Man campaign celebrates the great men and women in our society who stand up to end violence against children –polishedman.com/vancejoy.

New music is on the near horizon as Vance Joy works toward an album release for early 2018. His previous, debut offering Dream Your Life Away has now sold over 1.7 million copies worldwide including over a million in the US alone. In Australia, it’s certified platinum with 120,000 sales to date. The album recently re-entered the Top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart (at #8), three years on from its original release, whilst ‘Riptide’ has now appeared in the Top 100 of the ARIA Singles Chart for a phenomenal 124 weeks.

PERFORMING SOON AT SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS & SPILT MILK

Following a period of writing and recording abroad, multi-platinum singer-songwriter and local favourite Vance Joy has today unveiled a brand new single, ‘Lay It On Me’, with an accompanying video. In a further treat for fans, the Melbourne musician has also announced two headline shows for this November, in both his hometown of Melbourne and Sydney.

‘Lay It On Me’ received its worldwide premiere this morning via triple j’s breakfast team, and is the first taste of new music from Vance Joy since 2014’s hugely successful, ARIA #1 debut album, Dream Your Life Away. The album is certified platinum in Australia with 115,000 sales and includes the singles ‘Riptide’ (8x platinum) ‘Fire and the Flood’(3x platinum), ‘Georgia’ (2x platinum) and ‘Mess Is Mine’ (2x platinum).

‘I had this guitar riff I had been playing for ages but had never found a home for. When it was glued together with a lyric I had in my phone, “everything starts at your skin”, the song started to make sense.’ – Vance Joy

The stunning, cinematic video, directed by acclaimed US director Mimi Cave, sees Vance Joy performing alongside US actress Angela Sarafyan of the HBO series ‘Westworld’.

The homecoming shows, presented by Frontier Touring, UNIFIED and Village Sounds, will take place at the Forum Theatre in Melbourne on November 22 and the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on November 23 and mark his first headline performances in Australia since last April’s sold-out Fire and the Flood Tour. Joining Vance Joy will be Gretta Ray who burst onto the scene last year after winning triple j’s Unearthed High competition with her single ‘Drive’. She has followed up with the gorgeous track ‘Towers’.

In addition to the Melbourne and Sydney dates, Vance Joy is also set to perform at this year’s Splendour in the Grass Festival in Byron Bay and Spilt Milk in Canberra. Fans can expect to hear favourites from Dream Your Life Away, in addition to a handful of new songs.

In between the Australian touring, Vance Joy will resume his globe-trotting ways, with a bunch of major festival dates already confirmed for the US and Canada including  New York City’s Panorama, Chicago’s Lollapalooza, San Francisco’s Outside Lands, Austin’s City Limits Music Festival and Montreal’s Osheaga Festival.

The success of Dream Your Life Away has been global. The album has now sold over 1.7 million copies worldwide including over a million in the US alone. In addition to its platinum status in Australia, the album is 4x platinum in Sweden, 3x platinum in Ireland, 2x in Colombia, Italy and the Netherlands and platinum in France, Norway and Switzerland. Single sales in the US now exceed 6 million, with global Spotify streams totalling more than a whopping, one billion. To add to 2013’s Hottest 100 crown, ‘Riptide’ was also awarded 2014’s APRA Song of the Year and this year’s Most Played Australian Work Overseas. Globally, Vance Joy was named the recipient of the International Songwriting Competition’s Grand Prize with perfect scores (2014) and ASCAP’s Pop Work of the Year (2016) also for ‘Riptide’ and the #1 Most Played Artist at Alternative radio in the US for 2015 The very same year, he served as direct support on Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour and scooped an ARIA Award for Best Male Artist.  His headline Fire and the Flood Tour saw him sell more than 170,000 tickets worldwide.

Now, with the release of ‘Lay It On Me’ and news of what will be very anticipated Australian tour dates for November, the next chapter of Vance Joy’s incredible career has begun.
