Sam Feldt’s ‘Heaven’ (Don’t Have A Name) (feat. Jeremy Renner) gets two brand-new remixes done by Dastic and SLVR

by the partae December 8, 2018
written by the partae
AMSTERDAM – December 7th, 2018 | Sam Feldt’s latest spectacular singleHeaven (Don’t Have A Name) has been inescapable of late. Featuring Oscar-nominated actor and singer Jeremy Renner on vocals, it’s a beautiful track that now gets two excellent new remixes from Dastic and SLVR.
Listen Here
Young Dutch producer Dastic has been a mainstay for Spinnin’ Recordssince being selected for their Spinnin’ NEXT ‘incubator’ platform, with his singles You & I and Let Me Love You among his huge successes for the powerhouse label. His bright and breezy house interpretation combines powerful beats with warm bass, bold chords and sweet melody that really compliments the glorious vocal. With subtle electro house undertones giving it some extra energy, it’s a glorious rework.

Milan’s SLVR pioneered his own ‘Booshi’ sound which mixes underground styles like bass house and UK garage with a crisp production aesthetic that works brilliantly in big rooms. His mix starts with tense, brooding, dark tones before dropping us into a twisted groove full of pitched down vocal cuts, low-slung bass and gnarly textures. It makes for a perfect contrast to Dastic’s version, providing dark to his light.

Official videos for both mixes are on the way, with live footage of Sam Feldt combined with footage of the remixer in question.
In addition to the remixes of Heaven (Don’t Have A Name), Sam Feldt adds even more fun to this holiday season by releasing his very own advent calendar. During the whole month of December fans get the chance to win incredible prizes and gifts such as goodie bags, production tips, free tracks, previews, other exclusive content and even a ticket to one of Sam’s shows including flight tickets and hotel. To take part in all these festivities, head over to Sam’s official fan portal at www.heartfeldt.me, sign up (if you haven’t already) and make sure you unlock your new gift every day.

Sam Feldt ‘Heaven (Don’t Have A Name) (feat. Jeremy Renner) (The Remixes)’ is released on Spinnin’ Records on December 7.

Sam Feldt and rising star SYML collaborate on ‘Where’s My Love’

by the partae June 18, 2018
written by the partae
SYML x Sam Feldt – Where’s My Love (Sam Feldt Edit)
(Spinnin Records)
Release: June 15th via Spinnin’ Records
Listen Here
[June 15, 2018 – Amsterdam, The Netherlands] Sam Feldt’s new collaboration with American musician SYML arrives just in time for summer, and it’s a real stunner. It’s a new version of Where’s My Love, a track by SYML that Feldt fell in love with a while back.

“When I first heard the original acoustic track by SYML on Spotify, I immediately loved it” he recalls. ”I think it has that perfect balance between indie and pop — something that aligns very well with my music.” He reached out to SYML and his team to propose the idea of a dancefloor remix, and the response was very positive. “I started working on the idea right away. Fast-forward a few months in the studio working on different angles, I am now very proud to share the end result with my fans. I believe we have achieved a good mix between the folk-ey sounds of SYML and the signature Sam Feldt summer vibe.”

It came as quite a shock that Feldt wanted to take his gentle track to a more energetic place, but SYML was soon convinced by the idea. “I was surprised and excited when Sam reached out with interest in reworking the song” he reveals. “When it was written, the dancefloor was the furthest thing from my mind — but I’m happy that has now changed. From the first version he sent, it was evident that Sam had a strong grasp of how to move people not only with rhythm, but also with melody. I think that’s something we have in common although we come at it from different angles. It was a pleasure to get to work with him.”

Feldt’s simple arrangement really lets the beauty of SYML’s voice shine through. The acoustic guitar twinkles over cool synth bass and chugging, uncluttered house beats before he unleashes one of his sweetest, most melancholic riffs to date. Just as you think the track can’t take you any higher, SYML’s soaring delivery takes it into the stratosphere begging “did you run away?”

Ranked #75 in the DJ Mag Top 100, Sam Feldt is having an amazing year. His After The Sunset remix album made a big splash, and latest singles Down For Anything and Know You Better have both proved firm favourites across the world. With a summer ahead that includes Tomorrowland, Parookaville, Nature One, Sziget, Ushuaïa, Hï Ibiza, Mysteryland, Marquee Las Vegas and lots of other US dates, this stunning new track will be getting huge reactions all season long.

SYML, which means simple in Welsh, is the creation of Seattle musician Brian Fennell. The name is a nod to his complex feelings about being adopted and not knowing his lineage other than the fact he has Welsh roots. Breakout single, “Where’s My Love,” continues to climb at radio and streaming and is Gold certified in Canada and Belgium. A world tour is planned for the fall.

Sam Feldt

by the partae April 12, 2018
written by the partae

Where are you currently based?

I’m currently based in the capital of my country Amsterdam, in the Netherlands.

Your new single Sam Feldt & Möwe – Down for Anything (feat. KARRA) is out, where and when did you record?

The track has been in the works for quite some time now, I think around half a year. Möwe approached me with this amazing vocal by Karra and the idea to make a track together. We hit the studio and connected really well creatively!

What influenced the song writing for this track?

Together with Möwe, we decided to create and produce a song that captures the feel of the warmer days that are ahead of us. We were really looking for a song that played well on the radio, has a catchy melody to it and sticks in your mind right from the beginning. Together with the sweet and poppy vocals provided by KARRA, I think we pretty much nailed it and we managed to get the results we were looking for.

How was it working with KARRA?

It was amazing, she has such a beautiful voice and she immediately knew what we wanted to achieve. It was an absolute breeze working with her. Next to being an incredible singer, she’s also one of the sweetest girls I know. I think we will be hearing a lot more from KARRA in the future.

How did you first start playing music?

I started playing the piano when I was around the age of 8, It didn’t take long before I decided I didn’t just want to play music, I also wanted to create it. When I was 11, I started DJ’ing for friends and family and before I knew it I was travelling with my dad across the country with my own drive-in DJ show. At age 17, I set foot in a club for the very first time. Right away, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue professionally. I wanted to be the guy who plays the records that people dance.

Your debut album From Sunrise to Sunset gained a lot of momentum just months after its debut in October of 2017, what influenced the sound of this album?

The Philosophy behind the two albums combined was to create music for each hour within a day. Whenever you listen to the album, you’ll find a song that perfectly matched the time of day. Sunset, which was released as a surprise album and is the follow up to Sunrise, tied the two albums together. Combined, they represent the 24 hours within a day, hence the title ‘From Sunrise to Sunset’.

How have things changed for you as a consequence of releasing Sunrise to Sunset?

I think releasing the album, shows the world the sound of Sam Feldt and is my gift to all the fans out there, It’s also the perfect opportunity to give new listeners a good idea what Sam Feldt is all about. I had so much music that I wanted to share with my fans, so I thought turning this music into an album would be the best way to do it. It also opened up the door to something I have been wanting to do for quite some time now and that is bringing all these live instruments that I use in my productions to the stage, together with my live band.

You supported the Sunrise Tour with the addition of band members and live instruments which led you to travel the world and play at the biggest venues. This year you will continue to travel the globe with your band in addition to your solo DJ sets. What do you find most enjoyable and challenging whilst touring?

The most enjoyable part about bringing the live band with me on tour is the extra dimension they add to the show. The energy goes through the roof and with the addition of live instruments you can really provide the audience with a complete different experience you normally wouldn’t be able to with just djing. The most challenging part might be streamlining all our agendas, because next to touring together we all have our own separate projects that also demand our time.

Do the crowds interact with you differently when you have the live band as compared to a solo DJ set?

Absolutely, when adding live instruments you get a much more dynamic performance on stage. People are not just looking at me to interact with but also the guys who are playing the instruments. In my opinion it gives the experience more depth for the people in the crowd, but also the interaction I have with the rest of the band takes it to another level and was something I always wanted to do. Seeing people play their instruments live simply adds that extra something.

In February you surprised us with your new remix album: ‘After the Sunset’ this is packed with 16 songs that are more club-oriented versions of tracks from your debut album, remixed by some amazing artists.  Who did you work with on this remix album?

The remix album is packed with so many great artists, like Calvo, Mesto, Breathe Carolina, Zonderling, Toby Green, DJ Licious, Redondo and many more awesome producers. I was blown away by the end result and the remixes they delivered. It’s so cool to hear your music being remixed by others and to see what they made of the tracks. I’m super happy with the remix album and I feel blessed by what they did to the tracks.

Why did you decide to release a remix album?

Over the past 2 to 3 years, I worked so hard on creating my own album, which resulted in 24 tracks that represented the Sam Feldt sound, to the best of my abilities. Because I spend so much time on this album and having so much material, I not only wanted to share it with the fans, but I was also wanted to have other producers take my music for a spin and have them make their versions of some of the tracks. It’s just incredible to see this happen to you music and hear their interpretation of something that means so much to you. After receiving so much love from the fans from around the globe after my debut album and my supporting tour, I thought it would be the perfect gift to surprise them with a brand-new remix album, filled with tracks they know by heart, put into a more club oriented style. The album adds to the wide spectrum of music that Sam Feldt stands for and adds yet another chapter to the story I want to tell through my music.

What do you most enjoy about playing music?

In general, I think music is the ultimate universal language there is. Give people a bass drum and we automatically start to move. I think music is something we can relate to on a very deep and emotional level, so being able to play people music enables you to share a certain emotion and take them on a trip by guiding them through your musical journey. Being able to do that is such a magical experience.

To see the fans get excited and share their love for something you created is indescribable. You get so much love back from the people on the dancefloor and that on its own creates a very special connection that automatically strengthens itself, making me work even harder to deliver.

In March you returned to Miami Music Week with your Heartfeldt Poolparty. How was this show and how did the concept come about and come into fruition?

Miami Music Week on itself is always a special happening. This year we decided to do another Heartfeldt Poolparty like we did last year. Again, it turned out to be a huge success. We sold out pretty quickly and it was absolutely one I will remember for a long time. We had some incredible artists on the lineup such as: Goldfish, Hook N Sling, Jay Hardway and SNBRN. KARRA also joined me on stage to perform our newest single ‘Down for Anything’ together with me for the first time. Overall, we had the best time ever and the crowd seemed to love it from the moment the first records was played.

At the beginning of this year you hinted through an Instagram post about plans for a more sustainable world, please elaborate on this:

Traveling the world as a DJ has been what I wanted to do with my life from a very young age, but it comes at a cost however. With over 200 flights per year I consider myself to be among the most polluting persons in the world. In the upcoming weeks I will shed more light on the projects I’ve been working on lately. I’ll be announcing a way in which I’ll become carbon neutral from this day worth and who I teamed up with, in my pursue to these goals. There are a lot of projects I’m currently focusing on, so keep a close eye on my socials because more info is coming very soon. In the meantime, try to ask yourself, what it is that you can do to make a better world, starting today.

You run the App Fangage: How is this App progressing?

Very well! We are now hosting fan portals for over 35 top influencers in music and sports and allowing them to get closer to their fans. Right now, over 200.000 active users are using the application to access exclusive content they can’t find anywhere else and that number is increasing by 10% every month. We have so many cool new features in the pipeline that I can’t wait to show you guys!

What do you have planned for the remainder of 2018?

2018 is doing well so far, I’ve just released my brand new single together with Möwe and KARRA called ‘Down for Anything’, I’ve got a couple of other music projects on the horizon, which I can’t talk too much about. The festival season is also getting closer and looking at my tour schedule makes me super excited about the Summer months to come. We’ve got so many cool shows coming up, with my live band or as a solo DJ. I think the rest of this year is going to be awesome and I can’t wait to see my fans from across the world again

Sam Feldt

written by the partae

Where are you currently based?

Currently, I am on tour right now in the United States. Crazy schedule but fun times!

Your 2nd album ‘Sunset’ was released on the 24th of November, did you release with a label or independently?

Both Albums were released on Spinnin’ Records.

Where and when did you record?

Everywhere, haha! I’ve been working on the album for more than 2 years now, both from my home studio in Amsterdam and all over the world. I’ve collaborated with a lot of different artists that live all over the globe – but luckily thanks to technology you can now collaborate from anywhere. I could be in a studio in London and collab with Akon who’s from LA through Skype, for example!

What equipment / programs do you use to record and play live?

Actually, right now I brought my exclusive Sam Feldt live band with me: Quirijn on trumpet, Tariq on saxophone and Jordi on guitars. It adds an extra dimension to the show! The crowd loves it. They also worked on a lot of tracks on the album with me. For recording, we use mostly Protools and I produce in FL studio. When we play live, we usually bring our own rack of equipment that has all the transmitters and microphones linked to a Macbook to control the levels and the mixdown.

How did you first start in music and DJing?

I was eight years old when I started playing the piano. I found out that just playing music was not for me, I wanted to produce music too. I started saving up for a DJ set and started to play my first sets in my hometown Boxtel when I was around 11.

Sunset ties together with your debut album ‘Sunrise’ which was released last October 2017, how did this dual album concept come about?

I wanted to release something different, the idea was to put 24 tracks together which symbolizes the 24 hours that we have in a day. I want to let people know that Sam Feldt music can be enjoyed any time of the day – both during the hours of Sunrise and Sunset.

The two albums together consist of 24 tracks, like 24 hours within a day, your also currently 24 years old.  How did you plan and write for these two albums to work together?

I didn’t start with this concept 2 years ago. I just started making music and then the theme became apparent by itself. The album started as an EP, then became an LP and then a double album. I feel that because my music is so diverse, this concept works so well. Every record on the album comes with a feeling, an emotion – and also: the perfect time to listen to that particular song.

Do you ever combine analogue and digital technology when playing live or recording?

All the time! Both when playing live with my band and when recording live instruments or analog synths in the studio!

How do you approach writing music and then recording and producing each track?

Usually my tracks start around a vocal. I’ve made a lot of tracks that really started with me sitting in front of an empty screen, but I feel that the process takes a lot longer that way. If you start with a very strong vocal, I immediately get ideas for the production around it and you end up with a much better end result.

At the moment you’re on a US tour called: From Sunrise to Sunset, in major cities like NYC, LA, Miami and Chicago, how do you prepare for each show and how has the response from fans been?

The response has been overwhelming! It’s so awesome to be playing my own live show in all these great cities and seeing so many come to the show. The live elements really take the show to the next level and I can’t wait to start touring with Jordi on guitars as an addition to the band in 2018. We’ve been rehearsing with the band for a long time and can’t wait to showcase everything we’ve worked on.

Who or what influences your sound?

I get my inspiration from a lot of different places and artists! In every genre, I have my favourites. Music in general for me is like a being a kid in a candy store; so many flavors you can pick and to choose from.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

To see what I’ve been listening to lately on the road, check out my Heartfeldt playlist on Spotify!

Next to being an incredible DJ/Producer, you’re also an entrepreneur as you founded the company: Fangage

Please tell us how you came up with the concept for Fangage, how you brought the idea to life and how you plan to grow Fangage?

Two years ago, I saw on social media that I almost had 1 million fans combines over all platforms. I thought of myself; actually I don’t know who all these people are, but I realy want to know them. However, there was an option to pay a lot of money to the social media accounts, which I thought was a crazy idea. I realized that the thing I was looking for didn’t excist, so i decided to create an independent platform for my fans where they could access all my content and where I could get personally in touch with them. After launching Heartfeldt.me, many other DJ’s followed and launched their Fangage portal. It’s so nice to see that the idea is working!

How can we join Fangage?

Just simply go the the website Fangage.me, and it shows itself!

Article by Business Insider about Sam and Fangage:  http://www.businessinsider.com/dj-sam-feldt-startup-fangage-2017-11?international=true&r=US&IR=T

What can we expect for the future?

After this tour I’ll be hitting up Brazil, Switzerland, China, the USA, Mexico and some other cities still this year. I’m also working on a lot of new music, with the next single being released early 2018.

Sam Feldt unveils highly anticipated debut album

by the partae October 9, 2017
written by the partae

‘Sunrise’

Platinum-selling Dutch artist’s debut album includes hit singles ‘Fade Away’ and ‘YES’

Sam Feldt – ‘Sunrise’
(Spinnin’ Records)

Platinum-selling DJ and producer Sam Feldt has unveiled his eagerly-awaited debut album, Sunrise. Set for release on 6th October via Spinnin’ Records, the LP features brand new collaborations with a range of artists including Joshua Radin, Toby Green, and Alex Schulz, as well as Sam’s recent hit singles ‘Fade Away’ and ‘YES’.

Laced with Sam’s signature melodic sound, Sunrise marks the Dutch DJ’s first studio album, following his rise to prominence with 2015 breakthrough rework of Robin S classic ‘Show Me Love’, which is on the cusp of 100 million streams on Spotify alone. Featuring hits such as recent single ‘YES’ featuring the vocals of legendary American hip-hop artist, AKON, Sunrise displays Sam’s unique tropical style, blending slowed tempos and rich beats running throughout the release.

Unveiling a penchant for synth-based melodies across the album, lead single ‘Be My Lover’ features beach-side Caribbean sound and a soothing male vocal whilst maintaining his radio-friendly EDM style on Lush & Simoncollaboration ‘Fade Away’. The track has so far garnered over 12 million Spotify plays since being released as a single with the vocals of Romanian singer INNA.

Having become one of the most in-demand names in dance music, Sunrisemarks a huge moment in the young Dutchman’s career so far, building on the remarkable success he has received so far. Currently coming towards the end of a hectic summer schedule which included performances at Tomorrowland, Creamfields, and various Ibiza dates, including Pacha, and Ushuaia, Sam recently announced the return of his ‘Heartfeldt Pool Party by Sam Feldt’event at this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event.
