Polaris have returned from their second European tour with We Came As Romans after a sold out national Australian tour playing their biggest headline shows to date in support of their latest release, The Mortal Coil and performing with seminal down-under heavy heroes Parkway Drive. Polaris have entered 2018 with the Australian metalcore torch held high in their hands.
One of 2017’s most anticipated heavy releases, Polaris’ debut album, The Mortal Coil stunned audiences and critics upon its release in November, landing at #6 on the ARIA Album Charts and #1 on the Independent Albums Chart, scoring a Triple J Feature Album – surpassing the already high expectations around the band set by 2016 EP, The Guilt & The Grief and its impressive touring cycle, which had seenPolaris gain a reputation as one of Australia’s most invigorating live heavy acts.
Since the release of their 2017 Greyscale Records debut, Dragged Through The Dirt, Justice For The Damned have spent the past twelve months backing up every statement they have made. The Sydney heavy-hitters have toured relentlessly selling out multiple shows on their own headlining run, as well as supporting Miss May I and Thy Art Is Murder around Australia and supporting Thy Art Is Murder on a huge run of shows around Europe.

2018 is the year that we see Polaris cement their place in the global scene among Australia’s most elite heavy music exports.

Polaris Premiere New Video ‘Lucid’ via Rocksound. ‘The Mortal Coil’ Out This Week.

POLARIS

ROCKSOUND PREMIERE VIDEO FOR LUCID THE MORTAL COIL OUT NOVEMBER 3 VIA RESIST RECORDS TRIPLE J FEATURE ALBUM ALL THIS WEEK!

“Three years in the making, the South Sydney five-piece come out roaring on their debut album, The Mortal Coil.” – triple j, Feature Album

The upper echelon of our heavy music hierarchy needs to make a little room as South-Sydney five-piece,Polaris release their highly anticipated debut album, The Mortal Coil this Friday, 3rd November via Resist Records. The Mortal Coil is triple j’s feature album all this week.

“Huge riffs? Check. Ambient textures? Check. Earth shattering breakdowns? You bet. Lucid has them all.” says Rocksound as they premiere the video for Lucid.

“Lucid came to us fairly late in the writing period. That big riff that drops in the middle of the song was actually written for a different song that Ryan was working on which didn’t make it to the album, but we loved the riff so we pulled it out and constructed a new song around it that was totally different to the original – really aggressive and full of this dark adrenaline, and straight away it became the album opener!”says vocalist, Jamie Hails

While drummer Daniel Furnari adds, “Lucid is a song about realising you’ve backed yourself into a mental corner that you have to work your way out of. I think by the end of the writing period we had all at one stage or another in our own time reached a bit of a breaking point where we became pretty drained and disillusioned with the creative process, which is somewhat inevitable when you’re working consistently on something for a long period of time and putting pressure on yourself to make things that you like. A few of us were getting kind of lost in the whole thing and beginning to lose a lot of faith in ourselves, and this song is about trying to process and understand that negative mindset.”

Watch the video for Lucid here:

The Mortal Coil was recorded in Polaris’ self-made studio in Mollymook, NSW, where they shipped American tandem, Carson Slovak and Grant MacFarland of Atrium Audio to oversee the recording. No strangers to success themselves, the hotly-tipped duo most recently produced, engineered and mixed August Burns Red’s Grammy-nominated album, Found In Far Away Places.

Guitarist Rick Schneider talks about the recording of The Mortal Coil, “Recording The Mortal Coil was unlike any studio experience we’d had before, both in location and environment. A few hours south of Sydney we rented a holiday house, not knowing how well it would suit our needs. We managed to set up two workstations and quickly found ourselves in a focused, yet highly relaxed work environment. While stress would inevitably make its way into the process, the end result is something we are all very proud of, and I’ll personally always look back on that month fondly.”

The critics have already been raving about The Mortal Coil:

“Polaris aren’t just holding a light to the bands that now define the Australian metalcore scene; they’ve grabbed the torch off them, ready to lead a new generation fist first into the moshpit.” – Stack Magazine

“Polaris doesn’t hold back anything on this, their debut album This Mortal Coil, showing the world what the Australian metalcore scene is capable of.” – Heavy Magazine

“The Mortal Coil is a strong, cohesive and confident offering; an album that’s destined to propel Polaris well ahead of their local contemporaries and land them on equal footing with the genre’s torchbearers.” – Hysteria Magazine

“Simply put, if you loved what ‘The Guilt & The Grief’ offered up back in 2016, then you’ll love this new record front to back. It’s a sonically tighter, better written, better produced, lyrical deeper, and heavier-hitting release on all accounts.” – Kill Your Stereo

Three years of tireless touring, boundary pushing writing and independent recording saw Polaris groom an army of supporters that’s already the envy of many in the heavy music realm, all of which culminated in the unveiling of the Guilt & The Grief in January of 2016. Whereas most self-released EPs register as a mere blip on the radar, Polaris’ sophomore disc landed at #34 on the nation’s ARIA chart, as well as a head-turning #2 finish on the AIR polls!

They have shared the stage with fellow prog-metal enthusiasts Periphery and Northlane, Hellions, Parkway Drive and joined Byron Bay eco-warriors In Hearts Wake on their massive Ark tour around the country with While She Sleeps and Japanese favourites, Crossfaith.

The quintet have just completed their national headline tour which saw them shred across the country ahead of the release of The Mortal Coil selling out shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.

Their first European tour kicks off this week on the Never Say Die! tour performing alongside Emmure, Deez Nuts, Chelsea Grin, Sworn In, Kublai Khan and Lorna Shore.

As well as their appearance at the Unify Festival in January 2018, Polaris will be sharing the stage supporting Byron Bay heavy weights, Parkway Drive on their ‘A Decade Of Horizons’ tour nationally.

POLARIS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM, THE MORTAL COIL  OUT NOVEMBER 3 VIA RESIST RECORDS

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE, THE REMEDY THE REMEDY AUSTRALIAN TOUR IN OCTOBER

The upper echelon of our heavy music hierarchy needs to make a little room as South-Sydney five-piece,Polaris announce their highly anticipated debut album, The Mortal Coil out November 3 via Resist Records.

Pre-Order The Mortal Coil now from www.polarisaus.com.au

The Mortal Coil was recorded in Polaris’ self-made studio in Mollymook, NSW, where they shipped American tandem, Carson Slovak and Grant MacFarland of Atrium Audio to oversee the recording. No strangers to success themselves, the hotly-tipped duo most recently produced, engineered and mixed August Burns Red’s Grammy-nominated album, Found In Far Away Places.

We managed to set up two work stations and quickly found ourselves in a focused, yet highly relaxed work environment. While stress would inevitably makes its way into the process, the end result is something we are all very proud of, and I’ll personally always look back on that month fondly.”

Polaris unveil brand new single and video, The Remedy. “The lyrics for this song are introspective in a very stark, critical way – it’s a song about feeling trapped by your own bad habits, feeling like you’re just stumbling around blindly making mistake after mistake without really learning anything from it. We’ve always tended mostly towards writing from a very personal, vulnerable place and I think lyrically there’s a lot of uncomfortable truths on this record.” explains drummer, Daniel Furnari.

“Filming for The Remedy took place over a single afternoon at mine and Daniels old high school, who were kind enough to let us use their green screen. Unlike previous videos we’ve done, we all shot our takes individually which posed as somewhat of a challenge without other people playing around us to feed off of. We chose to work with the guys at Red Boss again as we felt they suited the project and were really able to guide and expand on the idea that we had.” says bassist/vocalist, Jake Steinhauser

Those eager to see Polaris shred live won’t have to wait long, as the quintet will be performing atBigsound on Wednesday 6 September at 256 Wickham and hitting the road this October for The Remedy Australian Tour with special guests Belle Haven, Deadlights and Daybreak before they head to Europe in November for a month long stint on the Never Say Die! tour with Emmure, Deez Nuts, Chelsea Grin, Sworn In, Kublai Khan and Lorna Shore.
