After a Coachella weekend full of critical darlings and fan favorites, ODESZA’s Sunday night set was a one-of-a-kind stand-out — an immersive, cinematic experience which further solidified Billboard’s claim that they “rightly be regarded as legendary.”

Sunday night’s one-hour set, conducted by ODESZA’s Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight, transported the packed Coachella main stage audience to another world. Using blockbuster-level visuals, guest vocalists Leon Bridges, Naomi Wild and WYNNE, a fleet of drones, pyrotechnics, brass section, 12-piece drum line, and an ever-moving stage, ODESZA brought to life a creative vision two years in the making.

Midway through the show, 420 Intel Shooting Star drones powered by HP Workstations flew in a coordinated animation in sync with ODESZA’s music. This marked the first time the Intel drones have flown during a live performance. The Intel Shooting Star drone is purpose built for light shows with built-in LED lights that can create more than 4 billion color combinations.

Following A Moment Apart’s stunning #3 debut on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Album chart, ODESZA (Clayton Knight, Harrison Mills) has released a music video for “Across The Room” featuring Leon Bridges.  Directed by Ian Schwartz, the video follows Bridges at a backyard barbecue, shedding light on generations of familial history and stories. Mills and Knight make a brief cameo behind Bridges’ captivating on-screen performance.

Called “transcendent” by Nylon, A Moment Apart is the Seattle-based duo’s highest US-debut ever. In Australia, the album debuted at #1 on the ARIA Dance Album chart and #13 on the ARIA Album chart.

Regina Spektor, RY X, WYNNE, Mansionair and Naomi Wild join Bridges as featured artists on the album, which has rapidly eclipsed 100+ million streams in the month since its release.

“Show Me” began as a bootleg remix of the smash single “Show Me Love” by Hundred Waters. Through its rise as an unofficial classic, Hundred Waters caught wind of the remix back in 2015, eventually giving it their full praise and approving it as an official release.

Hundred Waters’ “Show Me Love” was a global hit, garnering tens of millions of plays on Spotifyalone. The single was used in a campaign by Coca Cola centralised on promoting love and positivity while battling bullying and hate. The track was even crowned with a re-work by Chance The Rapper and dance music heavyweight Skrillex, a further testament to its cross-genre appeal and larger than life meaning.

Big Wild’s “Show Me” is the perfect representation of everything we know and love about Big Wild. His unique sound design shines throughout the sporadic musical structure while Nicole Miglis from Hundred Waters vocals lead the way.

With it’s vivid juxtaposition of sci-fi elements strewn amidst a tropical paradise, “Line Of Sight” aligns ODESZA’s epic, infectious tune with the story of an unlikely bond between a boy and a robot. Directed by Daniel Brown with live-action production company UNEARD/OF, the young protagonist’s ingenuity and sense of survival in the most isolated of sanctuaries pairs a beautiful visual accompaniment to the already cinematic track.

“We were really blown away by Dan’s work for our “It’s Only” music video a few years ago. When it came time to find a director for “Line Of Sight” we wanted someone who could represent the subtle sadness of the track yet pair it with feelings of hope and wonder,” says Knight and Mills. “We loved Dan’s sense of imagination and idea of telling a story about friendship through a sci-fi lens.”

“The track is so big and open it just felt like it was tailor made for putting a story under it. I focused on trying to convey something that was serious with a little melancholy but would ultimately be about hope and the human spirit to adapt and survive,” says director Daniel Brown. “In many ways I like to think of it like a parable with science fiction twist but at the core it’s an adventure story, a kid lost in the jungle trying to live another day where he gets help from a robot instead of a pack of wolves.”

Overnight, Australian fan favourite and Seattle natives ODESZA (Harrison Mills, Clayton Knight) released their first new music in over a year and a half. Seattle radio stations KEXP and KNDD aired “Line of Sight” (feat. WYNNE and Mansionair) as well as announced the duo’s upcoming hometown headlining festival performance at Bumbershoot. ODESZA then released a second surprise track only hours later, “Late Night”, via BBC Radio 1‘s Huw Stephens.

Recorded between Seattle, Los Angeles and Sydney “Line of Sight” is a mesmerising, uplifting track full of texture and intricacy aided by WYNNE’s lead vocal and backing vocals by Australia’s own Mansionair.

“Late Night” is a glittering, cosmically influenced instrumental jam, with a retro bass line, reverberating riff, and a Pacific Northwest feel (also recorded in Seattle).

“We hope both old and new fans will enjoy these as feel good summer songs” says Knight. “We’ve spent the past couple years constantly re-working our sound, and growing as musicians,” explains Mills of the duo’s recording process between the road and the studio, “this sound reflects us building a grander, more cinematic sound.“

Formed in 2012 after meeting at Western Washington University, Mills and Knight’s combination of airy dreaminess, with textured bass and live percussion has set them apart from the pack, with a craftsmanlike approach to their sound, building the beats from the ground up. ODESZA’s debut LP Summer’s Gone stood out in the world of electronic music, as a collection of songs not just of beats. Their latest album In Return earned praise from The FADER, Vice, Noisey and Complex among others, and was followed by a GRAMMY nomination, headline festival appearances and sold out tours across the globe and in Australia an ARIA accredited Gold Single for “Sun Models“. ODESZA were in Australia last year for the Groovin The Moo festival as well as their own national run of sold out headline dates that included three massive nights at TheMetro Theatre in Sydney.
