Where are you currently based?
I’m currently based in Brighton.
Your new folk/Americana single ‘Love Left Lost’ has recently been released, what influenced the music and lyrics of this track?
This one was written in the wake of a low point for me, I just wanted to write something that symbolised the moment I figured out how to move on.
Where and when did you record?
I recorded this track with two singers last spring at Retreat Studios in Ovingdean, not far from Brighton.
How has the track been received by fans and critics?
People seem to love this song, the critics seem to believe in me as well which is good! I’ve had great love and support from all over the place, I feel really grateful.
‘Love Left Lost’ follows the release of your debut single ‘The Devil Below Me’ this summer, which was released to great critical acclaim, what is your secret to writing such emotive music?
That’s a hard one… I guess I just make the music that’s inside of me, when I’m personally experiencing something that effects me on an emotional level, writing music and putting those experiences into songs always seems to set me straight.
How did you first start playing music?
I grew up being played artists like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, CSN and Van Morrison from the passenger seat of my dads car. Growing up surrounded by such emotive artists has been a massive influence in my music.
What do you have planned for the rest of the year and for 2018?
I plan to keep recording, releasing and touring. People have responded so well to my music so far, so fingers crossed next year will have some great stuff in stall for me!
Who are you listening to at the moment?
It constantly changes, at the moment I’m really digging the new Fleet Foxes album “Crack-Up”, there’s some seriously beautiful stuff on there. “22 A Million” by Bon Iver as well, had that on repeat since it was released and “Utopia” Bjorks new album.
When and where are you playing next?
I’m going to be announcing some new shows just after Christmas, so you’ll have to wait until then to find out i’m afraid. Lots of shows are planned for the new year, mostly in London and the South East, but we’re also planning a UK tour for the summer.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
That’s the toughest one yet… I’m big into my food, probably has to be tapas though. I spend a lot of my time hanging out in the studio with the guys from my band.. I go to lots of gigs too, anywhere with decent music.
