Japandroids release new video for “North South East West” – THE PARTAE

JAPANDROIDS RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR “NORTH SOUTH EAST WEST”

Japandroids have unveiled a new video for their song “North East South West” off their critically heralded release Near To The Wild Heart of Life, out now on Pod via Inertia Music

Japandroids said, “Our first and only previous music video, for ‘The House That Heaven Built‘ was originally designed simply to document one week in the life of Japandroids on tour in America. But as time went by, it inadvertently became not only the best visual document of Japandroids in 2012, but of the whole ‘Celebration Rock‘ era. Directed by Jim Larson, it captured all the action of the road, and offered a brief glimpse into the lives we led for nearly two straight years.

Conceived as a sequel, this video, very appropriately for ‘North East South West’ documents another week in the life of Japandroids on tour, this time in Europe. Filmed primarily in Spain, Italy, and Portugal, Jim Larson returns to the road to capture what has changed in the preceding years (and what hasn’t).”

On their latest release Near To The Wild Heart Of Life, Japandroids deliver a vital burst of poetic rock and roll. The Ringer called the record “one of the best pure rock ’n’ roll albums of the decade,” while Entertainment Weekly raved “the Vancouver duo sounds positively born to run. ‘Near to the Wild Heart of Life’ marks a huge leap forward in studio craft, stylistic diversity, and lyrical scope as it crosses the gap between punk and classic rock like The Clash’s ‘London Calling‘ or Green Day’s ‘American Idiot‘.”

JAPANDROIDS ANNOUNCE SUPPORTS FOR NATIONAL TOUR COMMENCING IN TWO WEEKS

by the partae June 28, 2017

“After a few beats, the crowd kicked in on the refrain, which delighted
[Brian] King, brought him to the edge of the stage, urging them on,
revving up on their energy until he was ready to hit the guitar riff
into the sky, somewhere in the vicinity of the moon.”

Consequence Of Sound, reviewing Primavera 2017

“Everything’s played with such vigour that we’re not quite sure if
this is simply the last night on tour or the denouement of an
apocalyptic last night on earth.”

Clash

“King and Prowse play their rock’n’roll like a high-wire act, sounding
ever on the edge of falling apart, flirting with chaos and collapse,
just on the right side of din and derangement.”

The Guardian

Today, Handsome Tours and FBi Radio are happy to announce special guests supporting Vancouver punk duo Japandroids for their first national headline tour since their sold-out run of dates in 2013.

Melbourne sees Japandroids joined by the frenetic and raw energy of Brunswick natives Press Club, and two piece punk-rock powerhouse Von Stache will be opening things up in Geelong. NSW audiences will be treated to scuzz-pop up-and-comers Body Type in Sydney and hometown heroes Paper Thin in Newcastle, with triple j Unearthed favourites WAAX on the job in Brisbane. Warming up the rooms in Adelaide and Perth respectively will be Horror My Friend and FOAM

The tour comes hot on the heels of the release of the band’s acclaimed third album, Near To The Wild Heart Of Life – which was just included in the Top 50 Albums of the Year So Far by Rolling Stone, SPIN, Stereogum and Billboard. The run of dates marks Japandroids’ first visit to Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth in four years from a sold out tour in 2013, and their first ever time rocking Geelong and Newcastle. Japandroids made a brief stop in Australia last December for triumphant sets at Meredith Music Festival and Fairgrounds, as well as intimate fan shows in Sydney and Melbourne which sold out in under three hours.

Japandroids are fresh off the back of a European tour, which included a sweaty and raucous stop at Primavera Festival. Other international highlight shows this year include Reading and Leeds Festival, Electric Picnic and End Of The Road, and the band have also just been announced on the Foo Fighters‘ very own music festival Cal Jam.

Don’t miss this opportunity to catch their lauded live show in Australia this year.
