ISLAND
ISLAND share new single,. “The Day I Die” : Debut album “Feels Like Air” out April 6, 2018
In the midst of a UK tour, the London-based ISLAND have released a new explosive single, “The Day I Die, off the upcoming debut LP, Feels Like Air, coming out April 6 via Frenchkiss Records.
Slowing down the tempo, but still retaining their venue filler sound, “The Day I Die” dishes up more attitude than ever before, featuring the bands gravelly vocals and atmospheric guitar rhythms. Speaking about the track, the band say – “It often seems in our increasingly digital world people have forgotten how to live. The song is about finding the power to escape the mundane.”
Formed over a mutual love for each members’ appreciation of diverse musical genres, ISLAND, who just little over a year ago announced their debut EP – Girl, have bit-by-bit built a reputation as one of London’s most exciting bands. With over eight million Spotify streams, they have spent the last two years winning over fans on the road, adeptly backed by singles including last month’s “Try,” and before that “Dreaming Of” and ” Stargazer.” The band have gone on to sell out four dates at renowned London venues, leading into a summer festival run that took in the likes of The Great Escape, Citadel, Secret Garden Party and a headline set on the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival. Their genre-melding, guitar-inflected singles have quickly gained them fans, with spins from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and 6Music, plus support from online tastemakers including Radio 1’s Annie Mac (who just declared she “absolutely loves” the band), i-D, The Line Of Best Fit and DIY.
ISLAND: Share new single and music video: “Try”
London-four piece ISLAND return from a summer of writing and recording with new single “Try,” and in doing so are ready to claim the title of most exciting emerging young British indie band.
Having risen stealthily through the ranks over the last year, releasing music independently and selling out their now signature live shows, the culmination of a year’s work is now starting to pay serious dividends with “Try” – the band’s inaugural single on new label, Frenchkiss Records.
“Try” is a cinematic and empowering offering, showcasing the effortless way in which ISLAND mix dreamy vocals with an infectious sound and relatable lyrics, intertwined with rich textures and atmospheric guitars. To coincide with “Try,” ISLAND release their music video for the track. Inspired by the film Ten Meter Board the video was directed by Axel Danielson and Maximilien Van Aertryck and you can watch it here:
