How did you start?
At the age of 16, some friends started playing tapes in school from DJ’s such as Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin. I was really interested from the moment it passed my Ears. I saved up for my first set of Belt Drive decks and that was me. Completely hooked. Naturally my interest in producing followed a couple of years later.
Where are you based?
Glasgow. Born and bred.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
I never really go to the studio with a plan. I like to just see what happens as the day goes on. Sometimes I can write my tracks really quickly. Some of my most successful tracks happened while running a bath or waiting for a Pie to cook! I usually start with a groove then build from that.
What are you working on right now?
I’ve just completed an EP for my friend Alan Fitzpatricks label ‘We are the brave’.
What is your gear setup?
I use hardware in the studio mainly. I never really ventured into producing solely with a laptop. I still use the same gear from 10 years ago! Some essential hardware includes my Microkorg, Roland RS-50, Roland FA06 and various drum machines. I also enjoy digging deep for really cool 60’s/70’s soul Motown style samples.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
Football is a huge passion of mine. I also have a 15 month old boy which is keeping me busy.
How would you describe your music genre?
Techno with funk/soul influence.
Do you know any music theory?
Nope!
What are your plans for the future?
To produce as much as possible. I want to explore other avenues as well. I was lucky to have music featured on a BBC Drama last year. Creating music for TV is something that has always appealed to me.
How did you get into music?
I played Trumpet at School and featured in the Scottish Schools Orchestra at 11. My mum was also a huge influence. She was playing great music around the house since as far back as I can remember. Music has always been around me.
What are you listening to at the moment?
I’m Listening to a lot of old stuff just now from Mavis Staples. What a voice!
Who are your top 5 influences and icons?

Aretha Franklin
John Barry
Diego Maradonna
Laurent Garnier
Lionel Messi
When are you playing next?
