What is your name?
Fifi Rong. I’m the singer, songwriter, producer..
How did you start?
I started off making beats, then tried to sing to them and it slowly became more song-based work over time.
Where are you based?
London.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
It can be anything from starting with chord progression, a sound, a production, or a melody in my head. Every track is different and has its own destiny and I just go with it.
What are you working on right now?
My new album’s production, and collaboration-songs.
What is your gear setup?
I use logic x, Uad appllo audio interface.l and midi keyboard. Pretty easy set up, everything is in the computer.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
I like to be in nature, I like learning and reading and I like many forms of art apart from music. I think they help me with my music.
How would you describe your music genre?
I don’t sit inside a genre the world defines, but if you have to come up with a name then I would say: hybrid electronica with moody pop…
Do you know any music theory?
Some.
What are your plans for the future?
Becoming a better artist at all times and keep improving on making music.
How did you get into music?
It was a dream I never dared to pursue, but somehow life took me on a linear path of coincidences and brought me to music making.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Lots of things to be honest. I’m new to Apple Music. And I’m like a kid in the candy shop. I listen to everything from dub to trap to Afrobeat to pop.
Who are your top 5 influences and icons?
Terresa Tang, Cocteau Twins, Pink Floyd, Tricky/Martina Topley-Bird (as a unit), Shlohmo.
