What is your name and role within the band?
Adam Brill – Guitar and Vocals.
Where are you currently based?
Brisbane
How did the band form?
We were in a band together before this one and we were looking for a bass player. Eventually, we gave up and bought an octave pedal instead.
You released an EP at the beginning of the year, where and when did you record?
We recorded Flex at Airlock studios with Yanto Browning around the middle of last year, releasing it at the start of this year.

Please describe your song writing process?
We generally prefer to just play together until a good idea comes along, then we work it out from there. Every song we have started just by jamming.
How do you approach the recording process once in the studio?
We prefer to track live with minimal guitar overdub.
Analog or digital?
I suppose in an ideal world analog, but it’s more expensive and as long as it sounds good we don’t mind how it happens.
What equipment does the band use?
One guitar, one guitar amp, one bass amp, one drum kit and about eight guitar effects pedals.

Who or what influences your sound?
We try to draw influences from as big a range as possible, whether its hip-hop and funk drum grooves or lyrics from post-punk bands.
You’ve also supported some fantastic touring acts along the way, which tours / shows were the most fun and why?
What do you find most challenging about touring?
Booking the tour. It’s a lot more stressful organizing something than just doing it.
As for next year, you have another track already recorded up your sleeve that’s going to hit next year, can you give us a little sneak peak into what to expect from this release?
Well its called “Lyrebird Lungs”. Its short and it works from a groovy start to a scream-in-your-face finish. It will have a music video attached with us playing in a cage so look out for that one.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
I’m actually listening to a lot of Soulwax and The Presets at the moment.
How did you get into music?
My parents made me learn classical guitar when I was young and before long I realized that I could play along to the songs on the radio. Then someone taught me a powerchord and its all downhill from there!
When and where are you playing next?
Last Chance Rock’n’Roll bar in Melbourne on the 30th of November
What can we expect for the future?
Not entirely sure to be honest. We are probably going to keep on making, recording and playing music until one of us drops dead or gets a real job.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
Netherworld in Fortitude valley, Brisbane – its got amazing food, beer and arcade machines.
