London-based and British/Icelandic born punk rock trio Dream Wife just announced their long-awaited self-titled debut album, and today they share a striking music video for the record’s first single. “Let’s Make Out”, the band’s celebratory ode to femme sexuality and consent, was directed by the bands frequent collaborator Aidan Zamiri and sees the Wives hosting their very own prom. Dream Wife explains the video:

“’Let’s Make Out’ is a lighthearted celebration of sexuality. Women are and have a right to be sexual beings. The video is silly, hedonistic and really fun. There is no shame in sexuality, there is no shame in fun. But remember; consent is key.

Proms are synonymous with coming of age, a necessary social before graduation. We threw an irl (in real life) prom at our recent London show to announce our album and the night ended with much of the cast from the video making out and dancing with us on stage. Prom in many ways represents us coming of age as a band and we’re hoping to usher in this new era; dancing, making out, making things with our friends and flipping the script every step of the way.“

Renowned for their ferocious live show, Dream Wife will make their Australian live debut as part of Laneway Festival next year, as well as sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne. Dates below.

Today, London-based and British/Icelandic born Dream Wife announce their long-awaited self-titled debut album. Since forming in 2015 as a college art school project, Dream Wife – a name chosen as commentary on society’s objectification of women – have become one of the foremost up-and-coming bands out of the U.K. They have garnered praise for their early releases and their ferocious live shows, which saw them sell out venues across U.K. and Europe, tour the U.S. with The Kills, and play festival stages all over the world.

Now the band are gearing up to release Dream Wife on January 26, 2018 on Pod via Inertia Music, and to celebrate they share a new track “Let’s Make Out”. Listen to the album opener and the band’s very own punk-rock rage-filled rallying cry below.

DREAM WIFE FIRE REMIX EP OUT NOW Playing Laneway Festival 2018

London-based and British/Icelandic born Dream Wife have today released their Fire EP, a collection of four remixes of their latest single of the same name. “Fire” (biLLLy remix) premiered yesterday on the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival website, and the band will play their debut Australian shows as part of the festival lineup early next year.

Earlier in the week, Gorilla vs. Bear premiered the Ellie Herring remix. Of this edit, Dream Wife had to say: “In Ellie’s remix of ‘Fire’ the song takes on a new and moody form. It’s exciting to hear this transformation of something so familiar to us.”

Ellie commented: “Remixing ‘Fire’ was challenging in the sense that I did what I normally do by creating 12 edits in 3 different genres… but then multiply that by 10. I’m exaggerating, but this production timeline really caught me in one of my more indecisive stints of 2017 & I overworked it until pigs flew. Fortunately Dream Wife handed over a lot of great cuts from the original; I pulled off the shredding guitar riffs & focused more on keeping Rakel’s vocal lead towards the front. The remix ended up more of a rework, but in a format that I’ve been playing out lately.”

Earlier this year, London-based and British/Icelandic born trio Dream Wife made their triumphant U.S. debut tour, where they were hand-picked as supports by The Kills, and at SXSW, which earned them praise from the likes of NPR, Entertainment Weekly, DIY and more. Now the trio of astrological fire signs are gearing up to release a new EP entitled Fire, and today they share the music video for its title track. Self-described by the band as “Icelandic road trip meets The Craft” and directed by Glashier, the “Fire” extraterrestrial adventure can be watched now via Stereogum.

Dream Wife released their debut EP last year which earned them spins on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Beats 1, and KEXP internationally, as well as a full add on triple j for single “Somebody”. Massive support was received from The FADER, Dazed, The Guardian, i-D, NME, and more. The band has also garnered a well-deserved reputation for their exhilarating live shows, having sold out venues across UK/Europe, played festivals such as Iceland Airwaves, and toured with the likes of Sleigh Bells. The explosion begins; movement is electric, conversation erratic and you become fully immersed in the moment. Thematically and tonally we explore the paradox present in the symbolism of ‘fire’ as both a creative and destructive force.”
