DGTL announces a new edition in Madrid after fourth successful edition in Barcelona
The Dutch festival organization again proves its relevance in music, art & sustainability. The expansion goes on.
|
“Spain was the first country outside the Netherlands that we arrived to with DGTL and we believe each new edition surpasses the previous one. We all love this place and its people, so we figured “why not take the party indoors during winter?” We are also aware that a lot of people from Madrid take the trip to enjoy the Barcelona edition and we wanted to bring the party closer to them. Logically, DGTL Madrid 2018 takes care of both wishes. And we couldn’t be happier about it!” Dave van Dalen – Marketing Director DGTL.
The European premiere of the acclaimed Cluster 2.0 and SKYLINE’s audiovisual performance were the true highlights on the art-side of the festival which was now bigger than ever before.
The organization can look back at yet another successful edition. But no time to sit down and enjoy; next month DGTL will take over Tel Aviv, after which the festival moves back to its hometown where dance enthusiasts from all around the world will gather in Amsterdam for Amsterdam Dance Event during which DGTL hosts three premium events that are not to be missed.
After ADE, Madrid awaits. Tickets for DGTL’s premiere in the Spanish capital will go live end of August, keep an eye on the event’s FB page for more info.
See you at DGTL Barcelona 2019!

The sustainable-minded Revolution program of festival organization DGTL, ensured them another prize. The Amsterdam-based team just picked up their fifth award in a sustainability-category, at a prestigious ceremony in Las Vegas yesterday. Once again cementing the reputation of DGTL as being one of the world’s leading greener music events.
The team won the award for Outstanding Green Event, at the FestX Awards in Las Vegas. Which featured 57 finalists, ranging from film to food to music festivals of all sizes.
It’s their latest accolade, after previously having won The DAM Prize for Most Sustainable Company of Amsterdam just last month, as well as the Premios Fest award for Most Sustainable Festival in Spain the month before and a Greener Festival Award in 2016. They also featured as a part of the winning Amsterdam delegation at the World Smart City Awards this year.
DGTL organizes editions of its acclaimed electronic music festival in Amsterdam, Barcelona, São Paulo and Tel Aviv. Their DGTL Revolution manifesto was launched in 2015 and has set the ambitious goal of making their events the world’s first ‘circular’ festival. With a fully waste and emission-free target for 2020. Different initiatives such as making all food meat-free, using a hard cup rotation system, only producing sustainable merchandise, recycling urine into fertiliser and swapping their waste-plan for a “raw material”-plan, are just some of the things that have earned them these commendations.

DGTL – the festival organization from Amsterdam – can now officially call itself the most sustainable entrepreneur in Amsterdam this year. Announced on Wednesday 22nd November at the annual DAM price ceremony, the jury – consisting of Maurits Groen, Alexandra van Huffelen and Bas Rüter – praised the organization for its pioneering work with a circular economy and making sustainability clear and tangible for the city and its citizens.
DGTL stands out from the large supply of festivals because of their unique focus on sustainability and innovation with their DGTL Revolution. They aim to be the first circular festival in the world which is fully waste- and emission free by 2020. An ambitious goal which Alderman Abdeluheb Choho totally agrees with.
“We of course think it’s amazing that we, as a festival organization, have won the award! Festivals are often seen as polluting and the cause of nuisance, but with this award we can show everyone that the exact opposite is the future. With our sustainable approach we will do our upmost best to make Amsterdam, and the rest of the world, a bit greener.” according to Milan Meyberg – Sustainability Manager at DGTL.
With festivals in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Sao Paulo and Tel Aviv the organization hopes to be a sustainable example for the Dutch dance-industry and festivals worldwide. DGTL is meat free, they work with a hard cup rotation system, they have initiated a raw material plan instead of a waste plan, all merchandise is sustainable and they recycle the urine of its visitors for extraction of struvite.
The sustainable policy of DGTL has also caught the eye outside of Dutch borders. Recently the organization was nominated for a FestX Award in the category ‘Outstanding Green Event’ and has won the Spanish Premios Fest Award for Spain’s most sustainable festival for its edition in Barcelona. Part of the DGTL team was also part of the Dutch delegation for Smart City Expo in Barcelona, where the city of Amsterdam won the Circular Award for the best program in the circular economy.
The next edition of DGTL will take place on the NDSM-wharf in Amsterdam during Easter weekend in 2018 from Friday 30th March until Sunday 1st April.

DGTL release the acclaimed soundtrack for the DGTL festival aftermovie
In response to all the positive comments on the soundtrack of their Amsterdam festival aftermovie, a three track EP with its music will be released on DGTL Records.
The aftermovies from the DGTL festivals are something to look forward to every year. From high end filming, to true craftsmanship in editing, the movies are always one to watch. Around the latest instalment from the Amsterdam festival arose a real buzz, not just because of the way it looks, but more because of the way it sounds. That’s why DGTL decided to meet peoples wishes and release the music on their imprint, DGTL Records. The EP consists of three tracks, from two young and talented Amsterdam-based producers.
Responsible for the sought-after musical creation are producers. The latter is also part of the video team. The duo made the sound of DGTL their own and translated it in to a ten minute soundscape for the video. The composition can be cut up in to three pieces; Modular, Generate and Amplify. These pieces were extended and enhanced to create a full-blown EP. Each track represents one of the stages found at DGTL Amsterdam. For the Modular track that resulted in a spaced out musical trip through captivating synths and piercing drums. The thought behind the Generate track was a big room and a melody that appeals to all. The first track on the EP, Amplify, is the banger of the trilogy, rave meets disco darkness. With the sounds of Maceo Plex in the back of their heads, they sculpted a comprehensive symphony that takes you on an all-consuming journey.
