DEAN LEWIS

RELEASES HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW SINGLE

‘7 MINUTES’

LISTEN HERE

Following his global hit ‘Be Alright’ and fresh from his sold out national tour, multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter Dean Lewis today releases his brand new single ‘7 Minutes’, a further taste of what’s to come from his forthcoming debut album.

Building from a simple acoustic refrain into a surprisingly upbeat anthem, ‘7 Minutes’ was conceived in a London taxi after a disagreement with a girl. “The song is about meeting someone,” Dean says, “making memories and then feeling regret.”

Many an artist has explored the pain of lost love, but few have written about those first few moments of heartbreak when your head is spinning, and the gravity of the situation is dawning.

Recorded at The Barn Studio in Hitchin, North London, with producers Edd Holloway and Nick Atkinson – with whom Lewis worked on ‘Waves’ and 4 x Platinum ARIA single ‘Be Alright’ – ‘7 Minutes’ has already become a fan favourite with Lewis performing it live during his recent sold out headline shows across the world.

Now with over a billion streams of his music globally and being named Billboard’s “Chart-Breaker” in October, Dean has topped local and international charts with ‘Be Alright’. The single was announced last week by ARIA as the fourth highest selling single in Australia and the second highest selling single from an Australian artist in 2018. Achieving GOLD certification by RIAA in the USA in December ‘Be Alright’ is still charging up the charts hitting Top 40 at Billboard, headed Top 20 at Top 40, Top 10 at Hot AC and is the #2 greatest gainer and has just debuted Top 20 at AC coming in as the #1 most added at that format this week.

‘Be Alright’ topped the Apple Music, Shazam, iTunes and Spotify Charts in Australia, peaking at #1 in 6 markets and Top 10 in 23 countries on iTunes, and reaching the Top 5 in 13 markets on Apple Music. Now with over 15 million monthly Spotify listeners, Dean has reached #1 on Spotify in 5 markets, Top 5 in 13 countries and Top 10 in 23 countries.

Dean’s hotly anticipated debut album is due for worldwide release in early 2019.

Dean heads back to the US and Canada in February for his first North American headlining tour.

DEAN LEWIS RELEASES FAN FAVOURITE SINGLE & VIDEO ‘CHEMICALS’ + SUPPORTING SIGRID IN THE US

by the partae March 25, 2018
written by the partae

Currently winding up his US Tour, Dean Lewis has today released his new video for single ‘Chemicals’. Directed by Mick Jones from Filthy Look Films, ‘Chemicals’ was shot in various locations across Sydney. Lifted from Dean’s debut EP Same Kind of Different, ‘Chemicals’ has already clocked up 12 million streams.

Dean originally performed ‘Chemicals’ at a house along the canal in Hackney, East London for the renowned UK Mahogany sessions .  With the Youtube recording eventually clocking over 100k views, it was this recording that eventually led to his signing in 2016 with Island Records Australia. It was a no-brainer for Dean that he re-record the song for his debut EP which has become a fan favourite with crowds now singing along.

Dean explains, “Chemicals was one of those songs that kind of fell from the sky. As in one of those songs that you start writing and the words just come down and it feels complete. It’s happened a few times and I’m thankful for when it does as it’s not too overthought. To me, Chemicals is that feeling of being addicted to someone and them being around you.”

Dean Lewis recently claimed his third Gold plus selling single from Same Kind of Different EP with ‘Need You Now’ (Gold), ‘Lose My Mind’ (Gold) and ‘Waves’ (3 x Platinum). To date, Dean’s music has been streamed 148+ million times and his videos viewed 32+ million times. Adding to this incredible achievement, last week ‘Waves’ was nominated for 2 APRA Awards for Most Played Australian Work and Pop Work of the Year. Dean’s songwriting has also been recognized overseas with his recent nominations for the esteemed International Songwriting Competition in categories of Music Video, Performance and Pop/Top 40.

Currently based in LA working on his debut album, which is expected later this year, Dean will wind up his North American shows this weekend before supporting Sigrid for a handful of shows in the US then returning to Australia for his much-awaited live performances with his full band in April for Groovin The Moo.

DEAN LEWIS UNVEILS NEW VIDEO

WATCH “LOSE MY MIND” HERE

Australian singer/songwriter Dean Lewis has today released his video for new single ‘Lose My Mind’.

Directed by ARIA award winning Josh Logue (Empire Of The Sun, Daniel Johns, Birds of Tokyo), the filmic styled video “is about the moment you realise you can’t get a person back who has always been there and it gives you the feeling of being trapped” explains Dean.

Following the story of a man clad in a retro deep-sea diving suit and helmet, the video shot in slow motion is sound tracked to the heartfelt aching vocals of Lewis and the production skills of John Castle (Megan Washington, 360, Thelma Plum).

To date Dean already amassed over 65 million streams worldwide of his debut EP ‘Same Kind Of Different,’ with first single ‘Waves’ recently being used in the mid-season finale on US TV Series Suits, which saw the song jump up to #1 on the US iTunes singer-songwriter chart.

Currently in the UK recording his debut album, Dean performed last week at the Reaperbarn Festival in Hamburg alongside artists such as Everything Everything.

Dean returns home to Australia next month to get ready for his ‘Lose My Mind’ National Tour presented by Triple J which kicks off in November.
