What is your name?

Dwayne Megens, also known as D-wayne.

Where are you currently based?

Currently based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands!

You’ve just released your new track ‘Trippin’ what was the inspiration behind this track?

Trippin’ is a mixture of a couple of tracks I’ve done last year, needless to say I’ve been experimenting more with dubby / bass sounds, of which Trippin’ is a perfect example.

Where and when did you record?

I finished the song a while ago in my home studio.

Did you collaborate with anyone on ‘Trippin’?

No.

How has ‘Trippin’ been received by fans when playing live?

It’s been doing great in my sets! I always play it either peak time or at the beginning of my set when I just started, and it’s been a real joy to play and the love from the fans on socials on the track has also been great!

How did you first get into DJing / producing?

Started out dj’ing at private parties and it quickly progressed to bigger shows and then towards festivals. After a couple of years I thought it would have been the best feeling in the world to play my own songs in front of big crowds and I started producing as a result of that.

What equipment / programs do you use?

I use a bootcamped Macbook Pro Retina and Fruity Loops!

You have a great relationship with Afrojack who gave you an early contract offer, how did you first meet Afrojack and what is it that works to well between the both of you?

I met him through email as I sent him a lot of emails with demo’s, and ever since we’ve been friends and working together. I think that it works so well because we have something in common, which is a great passion for music as well as a dedicated work ethic!

Who are you listening to at the moment?

checking out the new Taylor Swift album as we speak 😉

You have collaborated with many artists as well as releasing on Steve Aoki’s label, Nervous Records, Wall Recordings, Wolv and Future House Music, how do you usually decide which label that you are going to release each track or album with?

It depends on the track and the sound the track has – I hate being put into a box and being  limited on what I will release next ,therefore sometimes it may differ, yet it always has my signature elements and sound in the productions.

You’ve also produced remixes for Tiesto, Afrojack, Jennifer Lopez and R3hab among others, how do these collaborations usually come about and how do you usually decide which track you are going to remix?

It basically depends on who asks you to remix, and then its up to me if I like the track or not. sometimes it happens you dont really like the song they offer you to remix or you dont feel it and then you decline.

What can we expect for the future?

Lots of new music! I’ve been working my ass off in the studio so theres lots of new material coming, as well as a cool touring schedule for 2018 🙂

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Fav. food is probably italian, place to hangout……. my studio 🙂

D-wayne Trippin’ Wall Recordings

by the partae November 29, 2017
written by the partae

D-wayne goes hard and heavy with another Wall Recordings release. Surprising twists and turns that revolve around the deep pulsing bassline tell a night’s tale in new single, Trippin’.

D-wayne is an artist that is known for his serious zest for life, combine that with his ambition and drive and this switched on and successful DJ is born. D-wayne started his passion for music after DJing at school parties. Only to follow an early contract offer from non-other than Afrojack himself, D-wayne was thrown into massive crowds that helped develop the unique style that we see in new single Trippin’. Even with serious touring schedules, D-wayne and Afrojack have declared that they will be good friends for a long time.

D-wayne has seen collaborations with various DJ’s such as Afrojack, Yves V, Gabriel&Dresden, Crossnaders, as-well as releasing on Steve Aoki’s label, Nervous Records, Wall Recordings, Wolv and Future House Music. He’s also delved into those never-ending dance music sub genres, and even worked with live musicians in more indie/pop based projects. This growing talent has also produced remixes for Tiesto, Afrojack, Jennifer Lopez and R3hab among others.

Obsessed with sounds, this Dutch born producer absorbs us all with this heated and heavily anticipated new single, Trippin’. As riveting as ever, D-wayne keeps pumping the tracks out that speak to everyone, and we keep listening.

D-wayne’s monstrous banger Ghost finally sees the light of day via WALL Recordings

D-wayne’s monstrous banger Ghost finally sees the light of day via WALL Recordings

You can always count on Afrojack’s WALL Recordings to keep you guessing with its incredibly diverse output of party jams. This latest beast from D-wayneis an absolute monster of a track that really stands out from the crowd.

An epic trap & dubstep infused track, Ghost builds with eerie string melodies and sharp half-time beats before a manic ragga vocal gets chopped up in hectic style for the powerful build. The drop hits hard with a soaring bassline cutting through the track like a chainsaw, then alternately stuttered into a frenzied slo-mo reggaeton-esque rhythm. The mid-section introduces a darkly-tinged, infectious riff which is soon sucked back into the depths of the track as the huge bass drop hits again. The production is immense, with deft touches of FX trickery making things even more intense.

The track has been thoroughly road-tested in Afrojack’s shows this summer, with insane reactions to the track at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Ever since Afrojack played the track at Ultra, it immediately created a fuss all around social media. Fans all over the world soon found out that the ID was a track of D-wayne and they could not wait to hear the track again. This resulted into many requests to play the song at the world’s biggest festivals, including EDC Las Vegas, Balaton Sound in Hungary and ElectroBeach in France.

Dutch producer D-wayne has previously released on DIM MAK and Spinnin’ Records as well as WALL Recordings. He collaborated with Afrojack on Freedom, which was included on his album Forget The World and has produced remixes for i.e. Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, Tiësto and many others.
