What is your name?
Dwayne Megens, also known as D-wayne.
Where are you currently based?
Currently based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands!
You’ve just released your new track ‘Trippin’ what was the inspiration behind this track?
Trippin’ is a mixture of a couple of tracks I’ve done last year, needless to say I’ve been experimenting more with dubby / bass sounds, of which Trippin’ is a perfect example.
Where and when did you record?
I finished the song a while ago in my home studio.
Did you collaborate with anyone on ‘Trippin’?
No.
How has ‘Trippin’ been received by fans when playing live?
It’s been doing great in my sets! I always play it either peak time or at the beginning of my set when I just started, and it’s been a real joy to play and the love from the fans on socials on the track has also been great!
How did you first get into DJing / producing?
Started out dj’ing at private parties and it quickly progressed to bigger shows and then towards festivals. After a couple of years I thought it would have been the best feeling in the world to play my own songs in front of big crowds and I started producing as a result of that.
What equipment / programs do you use?
I use a bootcamped Macbook Pro Retina and Fruity Loops!
You have a great relationship with Afrojack who gave you an early contract offer, how did you first meet Afrojack and what is it that works to well between the both of you?
I met him through email as I sent him a lot of emails with demo’s, and ever since we’ve been friends and working together. I think that it works so well because we have something in common, which is a great passion for music as well as a dedicated work ethic!
Who are you listening to at the moment?
checking out the new Taylor Swift album as we speak 😉
You have collaborated with many artists as well as releasing on Steve Aoki’s label, Nervous Records, Wall Recordings, Wolv and Future House Music, how do you usually decide which label that you are going to release each track or album with?
It depends on the track and the sound the track has – I hate being put into a box and being limited on what I will release next ,therefore sometimes it may differ, yet it always has my signature elements and sound in the productions.
You’ve also produced remixes for Tiesto, Afrojack, Jennifer Lopez and R3hab among others, how do these collaborations usually come about and how do you usually decide which track you are going to remix?
It basically depends on who asks you to remix, and then its up to me if I like the track or not. sometimes it happens you dont really like the song they offer you to remix or you dont feel it and then you decline.
What can we expect for the future?
Lots of new music! I’ve been working my ass off in the studio so theres lots of new material coming, as well as a cool touring schedule for 2018 🙂
Favourite food and place to hangout?
Fav. food is probably italian, place to hangout……. my studio 🙂
