SANDRIDER

by the partae

What is your name and role within the band?

My name is Jon Weisnewski. I play guitar and sing, but I’m usually referred to as a sound valet.

How did you start?

Clumsily.

Where are you based?

Physically we are based in Seattle. Astrally I personally identify with the Sphere of Annihilation.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

Lots of stabs in the dark. It’s pretty rare we hang on to a song if it doesn’t come to life the first few times we play it. The amount of dead rats that become exposed in our filthy basement practice space is usually a good indicator that we’re on a good path.

What are you working on right now?

Finishing the album and rehearsing the new stuff.

What is your gear setup?

I play a Fender Stratocaster with a Seymore Duncan bridge pick up into 2 half stacks. One amp is a Verellen “Higher Watt”, and the other amp is a custom Verellen “Dynamo” Meat Smoke bass amp that happens to crush the living shit out of everything when you run a guitar through it.

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

I’m a monumental dork. D&D, videogames, esports, comics, etc. Yes it affects my music. It affects my entire damn life.

How would you describe your music genre?

Loud rock.

Do you know any music theory?

A tiny bit, but not enough to claim any shred of fluency.

What are your plans for the future?

Make kick ass music. Make kick ass videogames. Make my son into a nice person who doesn’t treat other humans like garbage.

How did you get into music?

My Dad is a musician so it has been part of my life ever since I was born. It was less a process of discovering music, and more a process of figuring what kind I liked and what instruments to play.

What are you listening to at the moment?

My 2 year old is obsessed with “Bicycle Race” by Queen right now, so that’s actually about the only thing I listen to these days. Records that I would rather be listening to while Bycicle Race is looping are Sweet Cobra’s latest record “Earth”, WHORES. “Gold”, anything by Ghost, anything by OFF!

Who are your top 5 influences and icons?

Nomeansno, Soundgarden, Drive Like Jehu, Unsane, aaaand shit I dunno… Abba?

When are you playing next?

July 7th at The Sunset Tavern in Ballard.

What is your name and role within the band?

My name is Jesse Roberts and I play the bass with an occasional vocal thrown in there.

How did you start?

We knew each other from playing shows together in other bands as well as through tattooing.

Where are you based?

Seattle WA.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

Either Jon or I will bring in the seed of a song and we flesh things out from there as an ensemble.

What are you working on right now?

Mixing our third full length record and the painting the cover for that record as well.

What is your gear setup?

As far as basses,I’m a jazz bass fan.  Amp-wise, I’m currently playing a Verellen Kalaloch into an Ampeg 8×10 and Sunn 215BH.

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

I’m an artist and co-owner of Dark Age Tattoo in Seattle WA. I think tattooing has opened me up to all sorts of art and music that I may not have discovered otherwise.

Do you know any music theory?

Yes. I studied guitar and trumpet from middle school  through college.

What are your plans for the future?

Making ears and skin bleed!!!

How did you get into music?

I guess seeing friends playing in bands and thinking that it looked like a good time.

Uriah Heap- Demons and Wizards
Who are your top 5 influences and icons?
