Austrian electronic producer salute releases the final EP ‘Condition III’, completing his cathartic trilogy project.
Based in Manchester, salute is releasing his ‘Condition’ trilogy dealing with the different stages of grieving. After losing his Grandmother and then his Grandfather not soon after, the producer, real name Felix Nyajo, created a horde of new tracks as an emotional release.
After reflection, he realised certain tracks resembled different stages of grief, pain (‘Condition I’), memory (‘Condition II’) and finally, hope (‘Condition III’).
Following the singles ‘JTS’ (Annie Mac’s previous Hottest Record) and the melancholic ‘All About U’, salute lifted spirits with his most recent single ‘Feel the Same’.
Sounding like a collision of Mount Kimbie and Floating Points with the classic sound of UK garage, the track is an innovative and fun dance cut. “I’d never made a garage track before writing“Feel the Same“, I play a lot of garage in my DJ sets, so it only felt right to try and make something in that vein.” Felix explains. He also references the sounds of Dizzee Rascal andWiley as inspirations for his dance sound in this Noisey profile. This influence runs throughout‘Condition III’.
Taking time to acknowledge upcoming talent, he continues: “I took a lot of inspiration from the incredible new wave of UKG producers across the country making some of the most ground-breaking electronic music I’ve heard in a while – big love to them.” Playing a live set alongsideConducta, salute is establishing himself within this scene.
Having crafted his unique identity within his sound and vision, salute has received plaudits from the likes of Pitchfork, Crack Magazine and FADER. His mini-album ‘My Heart’ was a catalyst for his success, with affiliates artist/producer Krrum, British singer/songwriter Gabrielle Aplin, Brooklynite KAMAU and the enigmatic D.R.A.M., who teamed up with salute on the project’s lead single ‘One More Chance’; a collaboration which saw the pair record a special session for FACT TV at Maida Vale.
Translating human emotion into the relieving and joyful sounds of his “colourful melodies and pop vocals” (Pitchfork), ‘Feel the Same’ is the demonstration of salute’s unique ability to innovate the foundations of UK dance music and create something totally joyful.
‘Condition III’ is available on all online platforms from 16th August, the culmination mixtape of the ‘Condition’ trilogy will follow on the 6th September.
