The psychedelic tinge remains prominent on Informative Noise, while lo-fi beats and alternative hip-hop structures form an intriguing foundation for People Taking Pictures’ central sound. Taking the listener on an immersive journey incorporating Tame Impala-esque production (‘Isolation Song’‘Two Heads’) with genre-twisting bends akin to the stylings of Massive AttackFloating Points and Gorillaz (‘Solitude’‘Perspective’), Informative Noise demonstrates the versatility of Parish’s diverse musical range and talent as a musician and producer.

Recorded at his home studio in Perth, Informative Noise came to fruition amid the stacked touring schedule Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have found themselves embracing over the last year. A steadfastly growing collection of material soon began taking form as a fully fledged album, however the final touches took their time in being applied. Now in its final form, Informative Noise is out and accompanied by a limited vinyl release.

Mastered by Simon Struthers (Forensic Audio) and featuring guest appearances from SUPEREGO’s Nelson Mondlane (‘Propagate’‘Adventure Shit’) and strings player/Psychedelic Porn Crumpets collaborator Ben Caddy (‘A Park Without Railings’‘The Universal Panache’), Informative Noise has outside flavours, but is very much in line with Parish’s central vision for the People Taking Pictures project. “I think coming from a heavier side of music, I spent a lot of my time over the last couple of years listening to the opposite and finding solace in calmer music. I have always loved hip-hop, jazz and soul music and I wanted to take what I already knew and fuse it into something fresh.”
