Nils Bech shares new single “Apart”

Nils Bech has long been a prominent fixture in underground music and performance art in Norway. Known for captivating live performances and a distinct falsetto laying bear his soul, Nils accumulated a cult following. He signed to NYC electronic label DFA Records for his fourth LP, 2016’s Echo, which marked a radical departure from his previous sound; Nils’ floating, weightless vocals, combined with electronic orchestral arrangements from producers Drippin’ & Øyvind Mathisen, garnered him international acclaim. Last year, he also became a household name in Norway after several of his songs were featured in the hit Norwegian TV show SKAM. Nils’ memorable performance of “O Helga Natt” (a Swedish translation of “O Holy Night”) on the show also landed him a top 40 single in Norway and a place in the top ten of Spotify’s Global Viral Chart. His whirlwind year culminates in a sold-out, two-act live performance at the Oslo Opera House, hosted by the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet.

Apart” is the first single following the success of Echo and takes the approach of a romantic, grandiose song of unrequited love. It is produced by Ole Torjus Hofvind (CezinandoRytmeklubben) featuring Oslo Strings and mixed by Mike Hartung (Jaga JazzistSatyricon). Says Nils of the track: “’Apart’ is about the desperation you feel when the one you love stays in a relationship with you even though you know they’ve stopped loving you.
