Brisbane emo trio, Nervous Light, have delivered a moody soundtrack to the cooler months with brand new single, “Coffee Stains And Picture Frames”, out today, Friday 20 May.

Written in the style of a diary entry, the track is akin to Myspace-era rock but with a modern post-hardcore twist. “Coffee Stains And Picture Frames” takes the listener through a gut-wrenching journey of heartbreak and self-destruction through somber, yet shimmering, verses and wide cathartic choruses.

Vocalist Jordan Olive explains the song is a reflection, “In the wake of leaving a long term relationship and watching the rest of the world, including the other person, move on without you. You are left to pick up the pieces and find comfort in yourself and a way to rebuild what you thought you already had.” The tune speaks to the importance of, “reflecting upon the self destructive behaviors that can rear their head when left unchecked and unaddressed.”

The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Andrew Vaughan, creating a warm backdrop of visuals and brings the viewer deeper into Nervous Light’s world.

Coffee Stains And Picture Frames,” is the follow-up to Nervous Light’s EP, ‘Bury What’s Left Of My Heart In Your Backyard,’ which came out in February this year and featured several singles including, “Patterns,” which received extensive radio play on triple j Unearthed. The three-piece emerged from the uncertainty of the past few years with the goal of redefining emo punk by mixing integral post-hardcore riffs, honest and relatable lyrics and elements of trap and pop-punk.

Releasing off the back of their recent support slow alongside Bellehaven and The Beautiful Monument this month, the band aren’t slowing down anytime soon, with more new music still to come.

Coffee Stains & Picture Frames” is available now worldwide and streaming on all platforms.
