LIFTED OFF DEBUT ALBUM N2KY, OUT TOMORROW!
ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY AT MELBOURNE’S COLOUR CLUB ON
FRIDAY 15 APRIL

Today, I OH YOU are excited to share ‘Special Attention’, the new single from Melbourne’s genre-bending creative MOSSY (Jamie Timony), lifted off his long-awaited debut album N2KY – out tomorrow! The silky track arrives with a self-directed video from the multi-faceted artist. MOSSY also today announces a Melbourne album launch party for N2KY, scheduled for Friday 15 April at Colour Club.

One of the album’s more cloud rap leaning moments, MOSSY describes ‘Special Attention’ as an ode to the “push / pull sensation of needing someone and simultaneously rejecting dependence on them.” Melbourne artist Purient brings her glossy vocals to the track, in stunning harmony with MOSSY’s icy top line and snapping trap beat.

He continues, “The song is basically about anxiety, when your mind serves up the worst-case scenarios and the walls start closing in—that feeling of being sucked toward an unhappy destiny.”

The video for ‘Special Attention’ was originally going to be shot with MOSSY’s brother Ben again, but after losing a shoot location at the last-minute MOSSY says the idea kind of fell apart. “I knew I still wanted to direct something myself, something more lo-fi this time. Kate (Purient) woke up one morning with a location in mind—a dam she’d been to in Healesville. The clip was shot by Jordan Hourigan,” MOSSY explains. “Once we got to the location, we couldn’t believe that there was this gigantic compass / sundial looking thing which I think fits really well thematically with ‘Special Attention’. It kinda saved the day.”

Across 10 dynamic and introspective tracks, produced by Dean Tuza (The Rubens, Stella Donelly) and mixed by multi-Grammy winner Stu White (Beyonce, Megan Thee Stallion, FKA Twigs), N2KY continues to explore the sentiment of a partnership having the potential to either nourish and support, or constrict and threaten. In his embrace of electronic post-punk, pop fundamentals from the Scandinavian underground club scene, and the recent wave of emo trap artists, MOSSY captures the sensation of surrendering to a force – whether spiritual, sonic or both – and the comfort found in that.

‘Special Attention’ joins recent singles ‘Why Can’t You See?’ and ‘Unfazed’, which were both added to FBi and  global hyperpop tastemaker playlists across Spotify, Apple, Amazon and SoundCloud, with the latter bringing in a dazzling re-work by Melbourne artist Banoffee. N2KY’s first single ‘Shade’ came with an energetic remix by 17-year-old Canadian Hyperpop artist kmoe that was added to global Spotify playlists creamy (696k followers), hyperpop, Friday Cratediggers, cellophane, and Apple Music’s Glitch, New In: Electronic, Future Sounds and Electronic Pop. Combined, the album’s singles have seen support from the likes of Matt Wilkinson and Zane Lowe, and firmly established MOSSY in the alternative pop world.

‘Special Attention’ is the final piece of the N2KY puzzle, which is out tomorrow and will be brought to life at MOSSY’s album launch party next month! Get your hands on tickets via eventbrite.com/.
