Lovebirds

Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there? I´m in berlin - considering the amount of aussies living here i assume everybody knows whats going on here ). How did you first start playing music? Like instruments? learning by doing, pressing keys). How did Lovebirds come about? It was 1999 and i had just started a house project with a friend called kneedeep when i was doing a few tracks by myself which were a bit deeper than what we did. then i decided to release 2 EPs back then and revived the name in the late 2000s when disco boogie and deep house had a comeback. What programs/instruments do you use? Since i got my new large format mixing console in january (64 channels) i have everything connected and ready to record at all times. so at the moment i am using logic almost as a tape machine - just to record all my vintage synths and drum machines & FX. i had tracks where my favourite synth is my prophet 5 which unfortunatly is broke since almost a year. good thing is it made me use my OB8 a lot more which is a beauty too. also my rhodes and my solina string ensemble are almost on every tune i make. recently bought a lot of behringer guitar pedal clones which are great fun too. What's been happening recently? I did a few remixes (winston surfshirt, sounds like franco) and had some great fun with my modded drumtraks which now holds sounds of linndrum 1 & 2 and the DMX. i´m doing a lot of 80s inspired music - but more like new wave / pop stuff. Who are you listening to at the moment? Totally in love with a track called "the hollow sound of the morning chimes". Who or what influences you sound and songwriting? I guess my mood mostly and which instrument i am sitting in front of. You're playing Grapevine Gathering this November, what do you have in store for these run of shows? A compacted 1 hour set of energetic disco influenced house music. and "in the shadows"). How do you prepare for each live show? I´m usually going through my music collection and making a playlist of what i think could go down best with a crowd of that size. Why did you decide to play Grapevine Gathering and what are you most looking forward to? Its my third time now and its been absolutely stunning each time so far - if i show people the scenes when 10.000 people sing along to "in the shadows" - i feel a bit like a rock start haha. What do you have planned for the remainder of 2019? I will spend my european winter in asia and australia completly this year. i´m taking a small music setup with me and i´m looking forward to produce and write in a new and different surrounding. Any secrets that you care to share? My new console used to be the one of a famous tv show here in germany. Favourite food and place to hangout? Ramen!!!! shinjuku ramen on russel street changed my life . that i can say.
