INTRODUCING SPUNK RECORDS’ NEWEST SIGNING FLOODLIGHTS

by the partae
"Scrappy garage-rock that flows with an Australian spirit, while refusing to downplay the starker sides of our nation’s identity” - Trouble Juice "one part travelogue and another self discovery... treat your ears" - Frankie Spunk Records is thrilled to announce the signing of Melbourne band Floodlights to its roster. The four-piece —made up of members Louis Parsons, Ashlee Kehoe, Joe Braffen and Archie Shannon—tackle Australia's troubled cultural identity through candid honesty and their distinct, biting garage sound.  This much is clear on the band's lead single ‘Nullarbor’, a gritty yet vulnerable track driven by lead singer Louis’ narrative of his travels across the remote South of Australia – his singing push-pulling from a tired Australian drawl to a raucous yelp over propulsive drums and jangly guitars.  WATCH 'NULLARBOR' MUSIC VIDEO "First thing that jumped out about Floodlights was the quality of songs, and the fact that they sounded really Australian to me," says Spunk label head Aaron Curnow. "They pretty much had me the first time I heard 'Nullarbor', I love every element of that song... and then I heard the band all surfed and it was an instant done deal!"  Floodlights' first release with Spunk is their remarkable debut EP Backyard, which will be made available on vinyl this December - just in time for Christmas! Melbourne locals can catch Floodlights TONIGHT at The Retreat Hotel, Brunswick, alongside Sledgehammer and Gamjee Dragons.
