What is your name and role within the band?
Martin Bush, vocals and guitar.
How did you start?
Justin, Ryan, and I have known each other and have wanted to play together for years. This was just the first time where we all had availability from other projects.
Where are you based?
Kansas City, MO
Please give an example of your music writing process?
We write communally, everyone gets an equal say, if anyone doesn’t like something its gone. That way no one has to play something they aren’t into.
What are you working on right now?
We are in the process of gearing up for summer tour stuff, and writing the next record in our “traveller” trilogy.
What is your gear setup?
I play a 40th anniversary Orange OR50 through 2 Orange ppc412 cabinets, my main guitar is a 2011 Gibson Flying V with Seymour Duncan Custom 5 pickups, and my backup is an ESP eclipse with Duncan JB pickups. I don’t use a ton of pedals, but my board currently has an MXR smart gate, an Exotic Effects EP Boost, and an Ibanez Analog Delay Mini. I sing through an Audix OM7 and use a TC helicon Voicelive for effects.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
I like to work on old vans? I guess that helps us get around to shows?
How would you describe your music genre?
Kind of prog, kind of thrash, with a little bit of stoner rock thrown in.
Do you know any music theory?
Just enough to get in trouble, I was in lessons as a kid and did scholastic music through high school.
What are your plans for the future?
We are hitting the road in July for a tour of the eastern and southern US with Godmaker from Brooklyn.
How did you get into music?
Always have been, it was kind of a given that I would end up playing.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Turbid North, High on Fire, Geezer, Black Tusk, Royal Thunder, Telekinetic Yeti, and as always a lot of Melvins.
Who are your top 5 influences and icons?
Matt Pike, Tony Iommi, Stephen Brodsky, Pepper Keenan, Buzz Osborne.
When are you playing next?
Smokestock Fest here in KC, then recordBar on June 25th with Greenbeard from Austin, TX. We will be announcing July tour dates in the next week or so as well.
