What is your name and role within the band?
I’m Lee and I play guitar.
How did you start?
Vin and Jake played in the jazz band in high school and really loved red hot chilli peppers so it seemed like a good idea to start a band.
Where are you based?
Cool Fremantle in WA.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
One of us will say let’s write a song then someone will come up with an idea then we’ll play that idea over and over again and at the end we’ll either like it or hate it.
What are you working on right now?
We’re mixing our 3rd LP, writing our 4th and getting ready for our big tour in July. Plus a bunch of other exciting stuff, we just signed with Hell Beach records based in Melbourne and got a new band manager who’s been our buddy for yonks so we got a bunch happening.
What is your gear setup?
It’s constantly changing around because our stuff tends to break quite frequently, especially Vin’s stuff, but at the moment I play a fender jazz master through a fender blues deluxe. Vin has a sparkly dan electro that he plays through a fender deluxe, not too sure what Jake’s bass is but i think it’s some fender rip off and Blake plays lots of different drums he says he has an SPD but I’ve never seen it.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
We all have jobs which is really fun. it affects our music because if we didn’t have jobs we couldn’t go on tour or buy gear or jam cause jam rooms are expensive. I personally like fishing and video games but i wouldn’t say that affects our music much. Jake fosters dogs, Vin just got back into worms and Blake loves a bit of youtube.
How would you describe your music genre?
We’ve been called death metal and lo-fi limp bizkit but really we’re garage punk psych rock with a bunch of other influences sometimes rap sometimes kraut or something like that.
Do you know any music theory?
I don’t but surely Jake and Vin do though since they played in the jazz band.
What are your plans for the future?
We have a big boy tour lined up in July; we’re heading overseas for the first time so that should be fun. We’re mixing our 3rd LP and writing a 4th. We’ll be releasing a few singles before we drop our 3rd LP and I think we’re doing another video clip when we’re on tour, don’t know too much about that yet but hopefully it goes through.
How did you get into music?
I saw a band play in high school and thought it was really cool so I started learning guitar mainly Green Day and Guns & Roses covers then eventually started a band in high school that lasted way too long but we learnt a lot.
What are you listening to at the moment?
At the moment I’m loving REO Speedwagon, Sabbath, Midnight oil, New order, Thee oh Sees, Pavement, The Chills and Straitjacket fits.
