What is your name and role within the band?

Charlie Granberg. Singer/harmonica player.

How did you start?

The band started in my head back in the summer of 2006 as I moved back to my hometown Ljusdal, after a long time of living in Stockholm. Wrote a bunch of songs that ended up as our first album. Then I contacted some friends and asked them to join.

Where are you based?

All over Sweden at the moment. Two of us are living in Ljusdal. The other guys live in Gävle, Åre and Katrineholm.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

When I write alone I usually hear a melody in my head. And I just grab whatever is close to me. A guitar, piano, banjo or some iphone app even. It doesn’t really matter. But we’re also co-writing more and more for every record. Sending files with ideas and small parts to each other.

What are you working on right now?

Ringht now we’re preparing for our summer tour that kicks off at a festival in Finland on the sixteenth of June. Then we’re off to Spain to play Azkena Rock Festival and so on.

What is your gear setup?

You’ll have to ask the guys that play an instrument about that. I’m totally uninterested in that stuff, as long as it sounds great.

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

I’m a grafitti/street artist as well. Right now I’m working on transforming my hometown into the world’s biggest art exhibition. The other guys do a lot of other stuff as well.

How would you describe your music genre?

Country/Roots influenced hard rock, without being metal.

Do you know any music theory?

What are your plans for the future?

Keep on making the music that makes us feel fine I guess.

How did you get into music?

When I saw Rolling Stones performing Start Me Up on swedish television. Mick Jagger wore a yellow catsuit.

What are you listening to at the moment?

As little as possible. I have noticed that my need to create my own music decreases when I listen to a lot of other peoples music. I need to get into my own brain, thoughts and feelings to be creative.

Who are your top 5 influences and icons?

  1. Bob Dylan
  2. Neil Young
  3. The Doors
  4. AC/DC
  5. Bruce Springsteen

When are you playing next?

As I said, on the 16th of June we’re playing a festival in Finland.
