“The Grogans stress their rejection of any one genre label, making them an exceptionally accessible group to get into. Whatever your cup of tea or perhaps a bottle of bitters, you are bound to find something in The Grogans catalogue of songs to enjoy.” – Livewire Au

“The Grogans have emerged from the waves with seaweed on their head and they’re entertaining the whole beach with this surging surf rock.” – Declan Byrne, triple j Home and Hosed

Melbourne genre-bending trio The Grogans are back with their latest single ‘No Thanks (I’m Going Surfing)’, a lighthearted playful surf rock bop that was written in between lockdowns throughout 2021. Out Friday 26 August, ‘No Thanks (I’m Going Surfing)’ is an instant bop with its playful and amusing lyrics and the final single ahead of their upcoming album, Which Way Is Out, set to be released on Friday 28 October via Cousin Will Records, with vinyl pre-orders available now.

A song about politely putting your needs above what sometimes can be expected of you in a particular situation, in this case going for a surf, ‘No Thanks (I’m Going Surfing)’ follows the band’s recent success of ‘Just A Kid’, ‘Be Your Man’, and ‘Inside My Mind’, collectively added to Spotify’s New Music Friday AU & NZ, Fresh Finds AU & NZRock Out, and Local Noise playlists, plus music video adds on Rage and MTV.

“We’re all very lucky for the relationships we have with the people around us and are so grateful for the time we spend with them, but sometimes you need to prioritise the importance of doing your own thing and being with your own thoughts. The ocean really gives us that escape, which is what inspired this song.” – The Grogans

“In this music video, we wanted to try something different with the subject matter. Our music videos have always been pretty performance orientated,  so we tried to add a little bit of acting into this one. Angus’ little brother Lach stepped up to a roll in it and we had our best crack at acting.” – The Grogans

Out Friday 28 October via Cousin Will RecordsWhich Way Is Out is a collection of both old and recent tracks, drawing from The Grogans love of the past to create a body of work that is nostalgic and forward looking. The album seamlessly blends the genre borderlines between heavy, cruisy, and acoustic tracks to create a fresh twist on the classic Grogans sound. Which Way Is Out will be available on vinyl, featuring a track only on the physical release, and can be pre-ordered today.

The Grogans are fresh off the road from from a national ‘Inside My Mind’ tour across Australia and first international shows in New Zealand, after recently completing a sold out tour with Hockey Dad and performing at Sailor Jerry’s Road to Rolling Stone, and surprise show at The Curtin in celebration of ‘No Thanks (I’m Going Surfing)’.

No Thanks (I’m Going Surfing)’ gives you another glimpse of the trio’s nuanced manoeuvres in surf, punk, blues, garage, psych, rockabilly and reggae from the upcoming album.

‘‘No Thanks (I’m Going Surfing) Lyrics
You asked me to stay the night
I said no thanks, I’m going surfing

I didn’t realise that you were on the way
The mistake was mine
I guess you could have said something
That could have changed my mind

But I won’t worry, I know the boys are on the beach and
And I’ll take my time
And you could worry, you know that this could be killing me but
Actually, I’m fine

He asked me to stay the night
I said no thanks, I’m going surfing
She asked me to stay for a while
I said no thanks, I’m going surfing

I didn’t realise that you were on the way
The mistake was mine
I guess you could have said something
That could have changed my mind

But I won’t worry, I know the boys are on the beach and
And I’ll take my time
And you could worry, you know that this could be killing me but
Actually, I’m fine

He asked me to stay the night
I said no thanks, I’m going surfing
She asked me to stay for a while
I said no thanks, I’m going surfing
I said no thanks, I’m going surfing
