Grapell have been busy in the studio working on their debut album which is slated for release on Roll Call Records this fall. The record builds on the intimate fabric the Swedish duo wove in their earlier releases including the excellent track, “Arrow,” which caught the attention of fans around the world. The Love Chamber EP released last year has been streamed more than 5 million times on Spotify alone and with premieres from Zane Lowe and comparisons to Rhye and Sade under the belt, Grapell are well on their way to be a breakout artist for 2017.

Today, the band are giving us a taste of what is to come with the release of “No Longer Free,” a perfect dose of smooth, indie soul for your weekend. This track is the duo’s most powerful to date, expanding their established sultriness into a bigger, bolder sound.

What critics are saying about Grapell:

“a strong contender for the smoothest thing you’ll hear all year” – Stereogum

“Emil Erstrand and Nils Nygårdh have twisted the component parts of their music into something entirely new” – Noisey

“Simple but sophisticated arrangements underpin romantic, soulful ballads …” – When You Motor Away

“Swedish duo Grapell are a rare breed in today’s music. They are one of the very few bands who can make the sultry sound spectacular. ” – The Revue
