Good Doogs

by the partae
Where are you currently based?

How did Good Doogs form?

Mike(drums) and I have known each other around the local scene for a few years and kinda had the same music interest and would be at the same gigs and that. We started jamming along to some demo I had coz I didn’t wanna sing and then we found asher(guitar/vox) supporting hockey dad with an old band of his and we all bonded over America pop punk band wavves

You’ve just got back from a national tour supporting Tired Lion, where did you go? And what were the highlights of the tour?

Yeh! We were main support for Melbs, Adelaide, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane. For me the highlight was probably Melbourne coz of the size of the venue and the amount of heads out there haha. It was pretty crazy. Then we had to get our act together and play a 2am show at Yah Yah’s. That was a real test for us hahaha

You were featured in Triple J’s unearthed feature artists in May 2018 and also won the unearthed spot for GTM Bunbury. Have things changed at all after receiving this massive coverage?
Yeh that couple of week was one of the crazy ones. It all worked so perfectly being feature artist then playing GTM. It was a serious eye opener for us playing a festival to so many people.
Triple J have also just premiered your single “So Dumb” where and when did you record?

Tristian at Sumo sounds in Perth! He’s a guru at what he does.

How did the film clip come about and who did you work with?

Ummm mike(drums) wrote like a script up for it and Emma smart videoed it. Also big thanks to Geo Harris who played a big part in the final product.

What influences your songwriting and how does the band usually write songs?

So far each song has either been written in full by Asher or myself(dyl here) and we kinda just jam it heaps and play around with structuring it and all that. We try be pretty critical to try get the best outta each song. And influences would have to be wavves and bestcoast – basically the reason we bonded in the first place.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Hmm we think Rolling blackouts coastal fever are the best band in the world at the moment.

How did you first start playing music?

I was meaning to learn gat for about ten years then finally did when I was 19. I was bored coz I had no work so I bought a $50 acoustic and that was it hahaha muso af now.

You’ve just announced an Australian tour from July to September, where will you be headed?

We’re playing a freo and scabs in WA. Then Melbs adelaide Coogee gong and Brisbane with some more shows coming (hehe)

Following the tour, what do you have planned for the remainder of 2018 going into 2019?

There’s some big things in the works. Mainly shows yet to be announced at the moment haha

Favourite food and place to hangout?
Mi goring coz I just ate it. Not like the actual real stuff but the fake packet stuff. it’s gotta be outta a packet. The longer it can last in storage – the healthier it is for you I say.
My favourite place to hangout is On my couch eating mi goring because I’m a lazy piece of shit.
