Alt-electro pioneers EMPIRE OF THE SUN return to the spotlight with their first new music in nearly 12 months, lifting the covers off single ‘ON OUR WAY HOME’.
The track comes from an EP of the same name, which also includes the track ‘Way To Go’ (originally featured on 2016’s ‘Two Vines’ album), and two stellar ‘Way To Go’ remixes from Japanese sensation Cornelius, and Gomez and Tritter. It closes with another brand new track, ‘Two Leaves’.
Co-inciding with the EP’s release is the video for ‘WAY TO GO’. Inspired by the band’s love of Japanese culture, it was produced and directed by WOW Inc. and shot in Japan, and utilises innovative 3d scanning technology, motion and facial motion capture. View HERE.
Discussing the video, Luke Steele said, “We discovered Japanese Director Nobumichi Asais’ work through a short film he had created called Kagami and also his famous face projection mapping works. His work is nothing short of genius! The colours and shapes he creates are mind bending, with a certain digital romance to it all. Our unwavering confidence in his ability had us reaching out to him to marry his imagination with our music.”
The single ‘ON OUR WAY HOME’ has recently featured in a huge Citroen TV campaign in France, UK, Italy and Spain – View video HERE.
EMPIRE OF THE SUN have made the road their home over the past few years, performing in over 150 cities across the world. Particular highlights include a headline slot at this years’ Coachella festival where US Rolling Stone named them amongst “The 15 Best Things We Saw At Coachella!” and a sold-out headline show at the legendary Hollywood Bowl venue in Los Angeles in front of over 17,000 fans. TV performances have included ELLEN, The Tonight Show with JIMMY FALLON, and LATER … with Jools Holland.
