New Zealand’s psychedelic-pop powerhouse Dave Weir has returned with the Australian release of his second single “Sweet Lily White”. This is the lead track from his debut EP Food For Thought which has been making waves on both sides of the ditch.

On the meaning behind the song, Weir says “Like all of my songs, I wrote this in one go and then stressed over the meaning afterwards. I was probably trying to distil a positive, caring sentiment that ended up coming out arrogant and tongue-in-cheek.”

Giving the nod to acts such as Bob DylanThe Beatles and The Velvet Underground, Weir channels his love of the 60’s whilst adding his own unique twist to create a sound which has been described as psychedelic folk and pop that blows through the house like a warm wind from the 1960s.

2016 saw Dave Weir frequent Auckland radio station 95bFM’s Top Ten, open for Black Mountain, perform at New Zealand’s award winning New Years Eve festival  Rhythm & Vines and play an extensive North Island tour with Sydney’s rainbow rock’n’roll 5 piece Borneo. No doubt 2017 will be his biggest, with the Australian release of Food For Thought alongside his relocation to Berlin to record his forthcoming debut album.

Food For Thought was recorded in the bedroom of Tim Shann (The Eversons) and co-produced with Jacob Moore (The ChecksThe Eversons).
