“This is meandering, natural beauty that’s giving me a bit of a Sufjan feel.” – Declan Byrne, Home & Hosed Triple J   “Her blend of folk and soul elements captivate the ears, and prove that Danika has an instinctive approach when it comes to song writing.” – Get In Her Ears   “It’s got a rich earthy feel and a hell of a warmth to it” – Celline Narinli, Triple J Following on from the release of her soul-infused debut release ‘Suit of Armour’, Danika Smith is ready to reveal the visual accompaniment directed by Eric Sayaman who has adapted Danika Smith’s moving lyrics on film in the most literal sense. Audiences are invited to experience the depth of Danika Smith’s lyrics visually thanks to the help of the director, Eric Sayaman. The idea of using a real suit of armour came from a fleeting evening of brainstorming between Danika Smith and her musician friend Hannah Macklin, who also has a cameo appearance in the video. “It seemed like a fun way of embodying the sentiment of the song with a peppering of humour. As real and relevant as the song is, topically, it's fun to lighten the air with some humour,” says Danika on the creation of her first music video.   "Filming outside in Melbourne with time restrictions is always a roll of the dice. Fortunately, when the weather provided, the performances came out easily. The strength and relevance of the concept was as much to thank as the individual input from each of the skeleton crew and performers. The suit looked a shit tonne better on the screen then it looked on the website, which alleviated stress when film day arrived.'' – Director, Eric Sayaman Having graced the stages of Womadelaide, Folk Rhythm & Life, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Party in the Paddock, Happy Wanderer and more, Danika Smith is a seasoned performer whose live shows are a gift to behold. Ahead of her first performance at Strawberry Fields later in the year, join Danika and her band as she launches ‘Suit Of Armour’ with Harmony Byrne at The Night Cat this September. ‘SUIT OF ARMOUR’ SINGLE LAUNCH Co-headline with Harmony Byrne The Night Cat, Melbourne Saturday 14 September Clear Tears: 8:30 - 9:10pm Danika Smith: 9:30 - 10:15pm Harmony Byrne: 10:30 - 11:30pm + DJ Tahina Arena & DJ Jolie in-between Tickets available via Eventbrite  Strawberry Fields Festival Thursday, 28 November 2019 - Sunday, 1 December 2019   Video Credits: Director: Eric Sayaman Assistant Director: Matt Burton Cinematographer: Cato Mclean    ‘Suit Of Armour’ is out now via iTunes / Apple Music / Bandcamp / Spotify.
