Where are you based?

I’m based in Paris but I will probably move from there in a couple of years. Even if I love this city, I want to live somewhere else and come back in Paris as a tourist.

How did you start?

I started by playing the drums at the age of 11 for 5 years. Then in 2002/2003 I started to listen electronic music by listening lives in Festival, especially “I love Techno”. It was a real Techno Festival in belgium at that time. Then I bought my own turntables but I knew that if I wanted to have a gig in festival I would have to produce my own music. I bought my first gear, Electribe EMX-1 by Korg right after.

What are you working on right now?

I’m working on a new project with a friend which is called “Ti Punch” a Caribbean French cocktail. It is tropical music into electronic music. Tropical House as already be done but we have something special here. I won’t say much J.

However I’m always working on new tracks to bring something new in my live shows. I’m obviously working on my 2 live shows and I’m also working on my career a lot as I’ve never done before. Nowadays you obviously need to be a good producer but you also need to think about your image by doing a good communication. You need to promote your next releases, your gigs or any particular event that you think important to tell your fans. Social media brings you much closer to your followers than it was years ago.

Lot of work to do.

What is your gear setup?

When I’m in my studio I use Ableton Live 9 to control all my other hardware gear. I love to play with synthesizers and drum machine. I have a 24 tracks mixer where I have plugged all my gears, Sub 37 by Moog, SH101, TB03, TB3, TR8 by Roland, Ultranova by Novation, Beastep Pro by Arturia, Mopho by Dave Smith, Monotribe, Microkorg, ESX-1 by Korg and controllers as Launchcontrol XL and Launchpad by Novation.

When I’m in live I still have Ableton Live 9 controlled by the Launchcontrol XL and the Launchpad to use and play with audio samples. I also bring the TR8 and TB3 which are definitely made to do lives.

How would you describe your music genre?

I actually have 2 music genre that’s why I made 2 lives.

The first one is an energic and powerful Deep House, kind of Progressive House. I like to bring melodies when I’m producing in order to listen tracks at home or at the beach. That’s why I called it “Sunny Live”.

The second one is an efficient and dynamic Tech House. I use more samples to play with them. I also play more with percussions to bring something with groove, that’s why I called the second live “Groovy Live”.

Most of artists which are producing different style of music have 2 names or even more, as Eric Prydz with Pryda and Cirez D. I’m trying to bring a path on my 2 music genre with the name of CLAIN because these style of music are not that different to me.

Do you know any music theory?

Not that much, I know the basics because I was a drummer and I’m using my ears to bring melodies. My brother helped me a lot because he was a piano player and is currently a guitar player. We are producing together sometimes and we have produced a lot together before.

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

I like to do extreme sports as Wakeboarding, surfing, skiing etc… I love the sensation when you ride. Otherwise I love to go on festivals with my friends, but not only electronic ones. Everything happening in life affects my music J.

How did you get into music?

Thanks to my dad, my mom and my brother which are music lovers as I am.

What are your plans for the future?

Keep working on new tracks that’s for sure.

I’m preparing an Exclusive Promo Vynil only for artists, label, magazine etc… to promote my tracks.

I’m also part of an artist collective called Ursidae Paris founded with friends. The aim is to promote artists in our circle, but not only in music.

As you can see in my Live teaser, I am in the gallery of a friend ANTI where you have a lot of his pieces.

What are you listening to at the moment?

I’m listening all kind of music I shazam. I always use this App. This is for me the best app ever. I use it when I’m watching a TV Show or movies, when I’m in a bar or a café, When I’m in a shop, everywhere I listen music. The last two I shazamed are “Angel From Montgomery” By Bonnie Raitt and Andante From concerto in D minor for 2 mandolins used in an hip-hop song called “From sun’s Angle” By Jedi Mind Tricks, love it.

Who are your top 5 influences and icons?

The Prodigy, Vitalic, Paul Kalkbrenner, The Rolling Stones, The John Butler Trio and I wanted to had a sixth, Mathieu Chedid.

When and where are you playing next?

I’ll have one in south west of France the 5h of August in a private party, one in Paris at the end of august but need to be confirmed and another one at a Wakepark “Exo 77” at the end of  September streamed live on Facebook, as I told you before I like wakeboarding.
