The Brisbane based RnB/ Reggae/ Funk outfit CKNU recently released their hip-shaking, feel good, fun loving track ‘Plus One’. To wrap up their tour and the end of the year they are releasing the hilariously quirky, flip-flop fetish-focused music video – watch ‘Plus One’ Music Video.
CKNU have taken the most Aussie thing we know, thongs, and got real freaky with it – highlighting everything that there is to love about the band, their humour, personalities and even their family and friends.
‘Plus One’ is about holding onto one’s lover and that they will always be the other half. Finding their point of difference, the story is of the uniting of the main protagonist — Tito (vocals/ guitar) — and a giant full-body flip-flop in a wedding ceremony surrounded by their family and friends.
It begins with Tito adding to his collection thongs that fill an entire wardrobe (captured in the image above). Tito meets eyes with a woman strolling down the beach and joins her. As a twist to the unknowing viewer, he literally steals her thongs red-handed off this woman’s feet and then gathers more off the proceeding sunbathing bodies on the beach.
Making a run for it in hot pursuit by dozens off the beach, Tito drops some thongs, stumbles and finds himself looking up at a lifesized flip-flop – innately love at first sight.
The music video features JSQZE — an Australian-based Reggae artist — who comes in decked out in bubble wrap. As for the rest of the band, they call and raise Tito’s thong fetish with uniquely strange little get-ups of their own. As Sah explains:
“People collect a lot of weird things so we decided that each band member has their own funny and weird obsession. The thong infatuation being the main focus of the video, because what’s more Australian than a pair of flip-flops?”
CKNU went into this clip to show their fun-loving, happy and well-humoured vibes whilst piecing together something a little different and they have done it while having a laugh with friends and family by their side.
