How did you start?

I was always interested in listening to music. I would be playing games on the computer and listened to the radio with my mom. We would start a casette to record the music from the radio when we heard them announce a tune we liked!

I started making music myself about 20 years ago on my dad’s pc with a program called Fasttracker 2. It was a program running on MS-DOS. I was hooked immediately, it took just a few samples and i got addicted to making music. Then it went on to more complex programming on Cubase and then Logic and now Ableton. I also started dj’ing at school parties and i would participate in local dj contests.

Where are you based?

Im based in Groningen in the North of Holland.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

I created some templates and drumkits in Ableton from which i usually start.

Sometimes im just working on some patches on my synths and then suddenly i find myself making a track.

Sometimes im playing some piano and have an idea and go from there.

What are you working on right now?

Im working on a track for a vinyl compilation of a label called whoyostro. Its a deep techno label from Ukraine. Also im finalising my new EP for Cervidae Recordings and im working on a new live set which I will be playing at this years Paradigm Festival in Groningen.

What is your gear setup?

I work with Ableton and Ableton Push, i use native instruments Komplete and UAD plugins. Hardware i use is Novation Bass-Station, Novation Ultranova, Nordlead 2, TR8, Elektron Machinedrum and some fx pedals and a Korg Kaospad. My interface is the Soundcraft 22mtk.

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

I like to go to the gym with a friend and besides that i love a good chill session with my girlfriend watching documentaries and series.

Being fit is very important for me these days, starting a day with a good session in the gym inspires a lot for studio. Your brain is super fresh then!

The documentaries i watch with my girl can be inspiring but also movies and series, I always listen to the music and sound fx in a movie. It can be really inspiring.

How would you describe your music genre?

I make house and techno. Im not really a sub sub sub genre person. If it touches you its your vibe no matter what subgenre of house and techno it might be.

Do you know any music theory?

I know some theory but never dived in super deep since I never really studied an instrument.

What are your plans for the future?

To create more music and to keep evolving to new and inspiring sounds. Also im working on starting an electronic music school here in Groningen called Lessons In Live. Next to my musical career i’d like to inspire young artists as well with providing education that fuels the passion.

How did you get into music?

I always loved music and from the moment i found out i could make it myself with my computer it went from there. It’s been a great journey and its a blessing having something in life what drives you so much.

What are you listening to at the moment?

While typing this im listening to a dj set from Mountain People, great music from Switzerland.

Who are your top 5 influences and icons?

I get influenced by a lot of things in life, a lot of different musical artists have inspired me over the years. For electronic music these have been Richie Hawtin, Steve Lawler, Kevin Saunderson, Audio Werner,  Ion Ludwig. Just to many to mention really there are just a lot of great musicians walking on this planet.

When are you playing next?

Some nice plans this summer are the Sassefras stage at Manifestival. Paradigm Festival in Groningen and Mysteryland festival.
