Where are you currently based?

I’m currently based in Melbourne, Australia!

How did you first start playing music?
I started piano & guitar lessons when I was 7, alternating between the two frequently. In the end I stuck with guitar until about 14, when I started experimenting with Ableton, leading me down the path of production!

What’s been happening recently?
The last few months have been spent in various studios, both here in Melbourne and in LA. Writing lots of new music, working with lots of creative people and loving it!

Your latest single ‘Be What I Need’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
‘Be What I Need’ was inspired by one of my favourite moments; the sun starts to go down at a summer festival, drink in hand and not a care in the world. I really wanted to give the record a summery feel, something light, fun and uplifting!

How did you go about collaborating with Brooke and writing Be What I Need?
Brooke and I wrote ‘Be What I Need’ the first day we met. We’d been in contact for a while, and finally had the opportunity to get together to write. It clicked instantly, and we had so much fun in the studio together! We’ve actually got another song on the way too, which I’m super excited about!

What’s it like working overseas as compared to back in Australia?
Writing music in LA was a crazy experience. Everything happens at 10x the pace of Australia, because it’s such a competitive space with so many talented people in such close proximity. I really loved being around the energy & drive that creatives over there have, and found that people were more open to working with developing artists than here in Australia.

Please tell us about your creative process:
I generally start with an idea, which is often inspired by people around me, shows I’ve been too, feelings bouncing around my head. I like to work writers who I feel I align, and get along well with. Writing sessions that feel natural always bring out the best in me & whoever I’m working with!

Who are you listening to at the moment?
I’m always listening to artists that inspire me, a lot of Crooked Colours, Hayden James, Boo Seeka. I’ve become a big country music fan too, especially lyrically. I love to incorporate storytelling in my music where I can, and that’s a real theme in country music.

What’s planned for 2023?
Lots of exciting stuff! I’m planning to spend some more time in LA, writing some songs with lots of different people, including some that I’ve looked up to for years! I’ve also got a new live show, which I’ll be debuting this summer! I’d love to release another EP this year, as I’ve got so much music to share with the world!

Favourite food and place to hangout?
My favourite food is anything Mexican, I’m a bit of a Guzman y Gomez addict. I love surfing, so I’m happy anywhere near the beach!
