Award-winning Brunswick Music Festival will electrify Melbourne’s Northern corridor for the 35th consecutive year in 2023, elevating cutting-edge curated lineups throughout Brunswick for nine days this March 5-13.
Sydney Road Street Party will return Sunday March 5 after a two-year hiatus. Music, food, art, performance and retail will explode along the length of one of Melbourne’s most famous arterials making for a memorable day of much needed community, comradery and commotion! Naarm favourites Cable Ties, Kira Puru, Black Jesus Experience, Ajak Kwai, Pinch Points, Mindy Weng Wang, June Jones and more will feature on eight pop up stages throughout the day.
Melville Road’s sleepy Estonian House will awaken with powerful headlining performances from Camp Cope, Mdou Moctar (Niger), CIVIC, Crumb (USA) and Leon Vynehall (UK/DJ Set). Witness this unassuming venue come to life in a hot pink flush of fervour across five unforgettable nights.
Once more, some of Brunswick’s best live music venues, galleries and pubs will host unique local and international lineups. The Retreat, Brunswick Ballroom, Howler, Stay Gold, Jazzlab and more each host their own special BMF lineups. Even late night kebab mainstay Alasya will partner with Music In Exile for a multisensory celebration.
Several International Women’s Day events will push boundaries and punish binaries on March 8 including a dark and poetic performance straight from MONA FOMA and Womadelaide on the Iranian Woman-Life-Freedom movement at Counihan Gallery.
Brunswick Music Festival’s smorgasbord of performances wraps on Labor Day holiday Monday March 13, with a powerful and free Music For The Mob celebration of first nations performers in the heart of leafy Gilpin Park in partnership with Bad Apples Music.
