Sydney dreamers Body Type today share their new video for their current single ‘Silver’. Watch it below:
Directed by friends, Tim and Ollie from Hope Street Productions, the video was shot in the band’s Newtown garage over a strict 12-hour time limit. The band explain, “We were inspired by the classic/cringe, smoke and mirrors studio setups of the 80s and 90s. ‘Silver’ is a song of time and change – what we choose to conceal and reveal also subtly marks our own progression as a band, exchanging wigs for fake eyelashes and a car exhaust for dry ice.”
The release of the video follows a busy few months for the emerging band who have just come off the road from the annual BIGSOUND conference and most recent tour supporting Perth greats POND, exceeding expectations and capturing the ears and minds of music fans and industry alike with their wistful, self-described “scuzz rock”. Playing in a Fremantle Prison last week, The Music marvel, “their live performance strived for attention, with subtle fills and nuances grabbing listeners while the band, still visibly excited by scoring the evening’s support slot, let their music do the talking for the most part.”

LOVE FOR BODY TYPE
“Silver, is clear reason why this group are causing waves in the industry…Channelling Alvvays and Jack River, the band cast a few dreamy soundscape over what is essentially stripped back and grounded punk music. It’s a frivolous and eclectic mix that truly pays off.”
AAA Backstage
“The wistful, lo-fi gem is the band at their best, as they deliver their raw sound with complete assurance.”
Best Before
“Body Type are a really good band from Sydney, and you should already be listening to them.”
Catalogue Magazine
“This band has captivated my for the last six months and I dare say they’ll do the same for the rest of the year.”
Dave Ruby Howe, triple j
“…garage-pop sweetness.”
i-D Magazine
“Australian garage and Australian lo-fi bands often seem to blend together, but already Body Type sit away from all that, and that’s the magic we need.”
I Oh You
“Australia’s buzziest new acts”
Matt Wilkinson, Beats1
“It’s like mid-2000s indie filtered through a pedal that King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard would use and it bloody works.”
Pilerats
“‘Ludlow’ is a wide-eyed pop dream dragged through the scattered mess of twenty-something sharehouse reality, with a free-flowing format reminisce of Cayetana, the new Sydney-via-Kiama-via-Perth quartet spar reflective remorse against the sing-a-longs of fleeting jubilation.”
Rolling Stone Magazine
‘Single Of The Day’ – “The band who have been generating decent hype off the back of impressive live shows and releases have come through again with a new single in “Silver” – their fourth. Definitely not a group to rest on their laurels, Body Type displays more refinement in their musical output while continuing to push forward in making some dynamic and near on unbeatable sounds, in terms of its charm.”
The AU Review
“Sydney four-piece Body Type may still be building their catalogue, but it definitely holds nothing back in its stylistic exploration. Each track seemed to feed off a different influence, from the warm tempo and starry melody of the opening Break Down to the almost dream-pop garage clashing of Silver.”
The Music
“Dreamy guitar and vocals blending beautifully. I think I have a crush. Keep ’em coming.”
