Your single “Brumaire” is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
The main influence for ‘’Brumaire“ is the wave of French techno mixed with elements of pop led by artists like French79. Sadly, the wave hasn’t hit North America yet.
You’ve created an amazing video for Brumaire, how did the concept for the video come about and what were the influences?
The story behind the Brumaire video is a bit wild. A couple of months ago, I got a message on Facebook from a friend’s sister, Ophélie Thiébault, studying Cinema in Paris. She explained that she liked ‘’Brumaire“ and was offering to produce a clip for the song. A couple of months later we started receiving pictures from the set, and we started understating how serious the project was.
A few lines from Ophélie:
‘’The idea for the clip really came from something silly. Do you know that moment when you walk barefoot home, get into bed and your feet are full of dust because you haven’t swept for a while?… Well, there you go….’’
‘’Inspirations come mainly from French pop clips made by Alice Kong or from Antonin Peretjatko’s universe with some inspirations from David Lowery’s A Ghost Story for some of the shots. But the inspiration comes mainly from my relationship, from my wild conversations with my sidekick Iris (Head Operator on the clip) and especially from our personal tastes. Almost all the decoration of the clip comes from our student rooms. We couldn’t find an apartment that suited us to shoot and we had to do the interior scenes in our school’s studio. We both did all the preparation, which was very intense! There were a lot of unexpected events and constraints, but we could count on each other to motivate us and fortunately Beige-à-Coeur was patient and gave us the necessary time while we had our diploma to validate at the same time. I kept them waiting but they were incredibly confident despite the distance!’’
